Nothing to exciting but does the job.
I wanted something to give me an overview of William Penn after seeing a movie about him. Think of Penn as the original Founding Father, a century before Jefferson inked the Declaration of independence. Penn formed the Charter of Privileges, which gave the citizens of the Colony of Pennsylvania freedom of Religion. Much more this was also a declaration of freedom of thought and expressed the belief that all men are created equal. Heretical thoughts at the time it placed him in the tower of London. The book is banal, but it's the best I could find. William Penn sought to see the goodness in every man's soul. Hope springs eternal from his Ghandi-esque approach to social change via Civil Disobedience.

I'll read more of the Benge books.
This book is well written and the subject,William Penn, so admirable, intelligent, adventurous : All the traits you would want in a hero of Faith, I read through the night until I fell asleep on the book. When I woke up I finished it. All Americans would be well advised to read it and remember the trials our founders endured - gladly - for this great country. Geoff Benge and his wife, Janet, wrote over 50 books on our real heroes and I am going to try to read them all.

a good introduction to a great life!
william penn was a man far ahead of his time. not only was he 100 years ahead in thinking about justice & liberty, but three hundred fifty years later we still haven't realized his profound thoughts on loving our neighbors, and allowing them to follow the light in their hearts!

Verified information on my ancestry
Factual book about Penn was harassed by the church of England until he gathered a boat load of fellow Quakers and sailed to America.

Great book for upper elementary-aged students
The life of William Penn is typically taught to fourth grade students in Pennsylvania. This book provides an interesting look into the life of this remarkable man. It is a very easy read. I recommend the book.

Some times the good guys do win
Very interesting reading. Some times the good guys do win! Will make you appreciate "sticking-to-your-guns" as W. Penn did even though he gave his guns/swords away.
