Freud LU88R009: 9" Thin Kerf Fine Finish Crosscut Blade

my table saw blade was BEAT. I struggled to find a new 9” blade for it and debated just buying a 10” table saw instead. I bought this new blade, and it ripped a couple 2x4 pressure treated boards like butter. Very happy with the blade so far.

Ok this muther of a bad boy has been sitting in my Citadel for a few weeks now...just waiting for that Festool HK85 that’s sposed to get here from good ol Italy any day now( he...just got it now that this blade is also from Italy...well waddya know???? 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😜😜😜🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣) ...so I’m simply D.I.Y.ing (🤣🤣🤣🤣) to try it out on that big ol Demon Of A Saw ...now there might be some issues cause a Freud/Diablo blade ain’t sposed to go on this specific 9” Festool Saw( which for some strange reason ain’t available on the US market) , the HK85’s riving knife is more or less specifically tailored for Festool Blades, or vice versa , but you get the picture.Which means a 2.5mm max kerf width I think, and a 1.8mm blade width... or is it 2.5mm and 3.2... for that ol river to work at gettin those kickbacks down to a minimum and all...but according to the specs in On the package i think they’ll be ok...And the bore will need enlarging as well...Cmon now when’s that Saw gettin here?!?I can’t wait so long !!!get me that Saw already!!!Sorry...🤦🏽‍♀️🤣😜Anyway yeah once I try em out ,and surely witness first hand theyKick Lumber butt like yesterday’s news only because A Festool Saw with A Freud Blade is like pairing Wonder Woman with Wolverine ,I’ll update this review to a proper “ how does this item work in your opinion” one.Till then...Will you please get that Saw home Man?!?!?😎😎😎🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🐚✨❄️🌕🌹❤️😘Edit:Ok got the Saw...Yes! (A while ago actually, sorry didn’t update sooner, having too much fun with it...🥳🤩👹😈🤣🤣🤣🤣😎)Did the mod on the bore...Yesireee.Used a Diablo Carbide Hole Saw, 1-1/8” on a DeWalt DCD996 , stuck that Frued Blade using 2 Festool Quick Clamps on my pseudo-MFT ....took a while, used lube sparingly , but in the end that hole saw pushed through! Did some fine deburring , and tried it on...perfect fit!!!So.... after that oh So long rant on everything above below and all around this blade , but nothing on IT!!!!How did it cut GDI ?!?!?!?!!!Well ....it cuts good man....it cuts reaaaaalll goooood...😎🔪🥩☣️😳🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Actually it went smooth as silk on the lumber I tried it on, fairly smooth feel on theFace that was cut, no problems with the Saw, the riving knife , the kerf or plate width.... Hands down would buy it over and over again.Great for straight cuts and getting clean cuts when ripping. Gums up a bit quick, only had the blade for a couple weeks and only cut a little bit of pine, but a single board of walnut and the teeth were showing sap buildup already on the sides. Easy to clean though. Tried to use it to cut lapjoints, but the teeth make a valley and dont produce a flat clean groove. The sides are great but that bottom is grooved and requires extra work to flatten/smooth out.Cutting at an angle proved to be pretty great on my rigid r4512 (i think thats the right model number, its the latest version of the saw, i know theres an older model). I made a hexagon shelf and i was cutting the middle board ends with an arrow tip so it can slide into the shelf and be centered on the angled joints. So i set it to 30 and cut and flipped the board over and cut again and i got my arrow end. Anyhow, checked my throatplate and noticed that the blade had either flexed or leaned toward the throat plate because i saw teeth marks on the edge of the lip opening. I never pressed on the blade in that directions, always in the cutting direction only and all my cuts were still clean. So not sure if its because its a thin kerf, that makes it flexible in that way.Anyhow, plan on eventually doing a zero clearance throat plate as well.UPDATE:I mustve gotten a defective blade. After cleaning my blade, i noticed there were some issues with 2 teeth. Some chipping or tearing on the metal teeth (see photos). Anyway, i thought ok, no big deal. Today I crosscut a 1x4, literally 3.5" of material. The saw jammed up the piece of wood and ruined one end. This was uncharacteristic of this blade, so i took a closer look...more than 6 teeth now had damage or defects. I am returning and waiting for a replacement. Hoping it was just a fluke.

After reading all of the reviews I purchased this blade in June for my table saw. I have now cut about 25 sheets of birch plywood with this blade. I was having problems with the outside layers cracking and coming off with my other blades. This blade has a smooth buttery cut and I have not had one problem with the veneer layers coming off. Not only that when I’m running it through my saw it glides smoothly. This is by far the best blade I have found and for a good price. I have since purchased one of these blades for all of my saws!
