Just right to make a portable recording studio.
I used this sheet of acoustic foam to coat the inside surface of a portable recording studio hood I made using 1/4" plywood. The hood sits on top of one of my tables. I cut the foam into three 2' X 4' sections. One of these covers the back, one covers the top and I cut the remaining one in half to cover the left and right sides. I purchased three 2' X 4' 1/4" plywood boards at Lowes to build a box with the same dimensions. I cut one of the 2' X 4' pieces of plywood into two 1' 11 5/8" X 2' pieces. There is only a sliver of wasted wood with this design. The sides are 3/8" shorter so that they can fit inside the top and back.I nailed and glued the structure together so that it has a closed back, top and sides and an open front. I attached the foam inside the hood using 9/16" staples. You only need to drive the saples in far enough to make secure attachment. Do not drive them in all the way.I use an Audio Technica AT2020 microphone with a laptop for recording. The whole thing goes inside the hood along with plenty of desk space for other stuff. You can record good sound without putting your head inside the hood. I don't recommend putting your head inside the hood because it seems to start acting like a speaker box and I get reverb from the box. But with your head outside the hood with you mouth right at the edge of the front opening of the hood, it seems to eliminate most of the room reverb while getting a natural sound without audio buz. Because the cable on the USB microphone is digital, it is immune to the kind of hum that an analog cable is susceptible to picking up. With this setup, my audio quality has been significantly improved.

Great deal for the size!
I bought this sheet of acoustic foam to line a couple of Whitmor Collapsible Cubes to make some of my own portable voice-recording booths. It worked out very well and this sheet will actually give you enough foam to make 4 recording booth cubes. $65 for this plus $40 for two sets of collapsible cubes. You can make 4 (5 if you cut it right) of those portable booths for less than what 1 Harlan Hogan one would cost you! It's got a bit of an odor to it, but that's only when you're cutting it. Making two of these cubes left me with enough foam to line the wall behind my homemade booth to give some extra acoustic dampening. If you're looking to get started in voice recording with a micro-budget, this stuff is definitely the way to go.

awesome bang for the buck
This stuff isn't as dense as most acoustic foam, but I expected that going in and planned to cut it and double it up. Since this is so huge (4'x6') I had no problem slicing it into a bunch of 18" squares and laying them together.I made a large (ugly but very effective) microphone booth with this foam and some duck tape. It sounds so much clearer and echo-free with this. The only way I could've been happier is if I had the skills to make a more portable and clean looking booth. That's a comment on me and not the product. It's absolutely worth the price!

A Great Acoustic Foam for Portable Recording Booths
I bought this foam with the intention of creating a portable recording booth for voice overs and voice acting auditions. It's worked great ever since, lining the insides of a Whitmor Collapsible Cube I bought on Amazon as well. It does an excellent job of keeping the surrounding sound out and has greatly improved my recording ability. Despite the little holes in the foam, which the description warned about, I can't see any problem with this foam for use in creating a portable recording booth. I'd highly recommend it.

Perfect for baby room!
I installed this on the entire back side of the door to our baby room and it works incredibly well. When we've done everything and he just needs to cry this keeps the sound in and makes it nice and quiet on the outside. I may be the only one who has ever thought of this but I highly recommend it.

Kinda cheap but not bad
easily torn. Nice size for covering a door. not real sure how much noise it blocks, but time will tell.

Does the job.
I got this foam for my 14x14 in porta-booth and it works nicely for reducing a great amount of room echo in my recordings. Don't hesitate on buying this!
