Finding God In Science: The Extraordinary Evidence For The Soul And Christianity, A Rocket Scientist’s Gripping Odyssey - Non-Illustrated

A simple pairing of physics and belief... and the wisdom to know the similarities.
A very compelling account of a JPL scientist that was elated to find that science doesn't undo a belief in a Creator; it strengthens and bolsters it. Michael O'Connell does a magnificent job of weaving his narrative through his previous professional life, and walking the reader from each those moments of remembrance into a much deeper conversation. I really don't want to give too much away as there are quite a few clever ones that made me grin quite forcibly. But I will say that the section on God acting within the rules that he set down may cause quite a stir for you.If you have a belief in a Creator, and want some fascinating physics to 'back it up', you owe it to yourself to pick this one up. It will start up some very interesting conversational engines inside of you.

There is no contradiction between science and the Bible
This was an excellent book.As Christians we are losing the battle because we are losing sight of the connection between the Bible and science. Unfortunately there are many so-called Fundamentalists who worship a A particular translation of the Bible and cannot see that connection. Many years ago Christianity set goalposts that God created the universe. Now these people have decided that we need to move the goalposts and ignore science. There is no contradiction between science and the Bible and this book demonstrates that very well. As Christians we should read this and learn this and share this with Others.Science is true The bible is also true.We need to learn both and not ignore one to the detriment of the other.

A different approach
This is a fascinating book. The author writes of his own personal experiences in engineering for the space program. He writes a very coherent and easily understood explanation of quantum mechanics. Using many analogies from quantum mechanics, together with Bible verses, he has a unique approach to explaining the Christian faith, and he does fairly well at explaining how to be saved, though it could be improved. Overall, I found the book refreshing, and with some new insights, even though his analogies are strictly speculation, and some may be outright wrong.I have a SERIOUS problem with Chapter 3. In this, he twists the Genesis account of creation into a pretzel, but a really complex pretzel. He uses science to dictate to the Bible, rather than using the Bible to inform science. If he would only have left out this chapter! He doesn't have a CLUE what he is talking about. He doesn't have a background in biology. He criticizes scientific creationists for poor science, with no details, and obviously no knowledge of the fact that even as people are still experimenting and learning about quantum mechanics, creation scientists are using good science to try to figure out what really happened. The TRUTH and ACCURACY of the Bible and what God actually said about creation DO NOT DEPEND on what creation scientists have so far discovered. He's been sadly misled by Hugh Ross, whom I have always said is a real danger to faith in Christ. Ross is an astronomer. Here's the thing. Astronomy believes that the universe is very old, and this is based in part on the speed of light and distant galaxies. The universe is said to be 13+ billion years old. The writer of THIS book acknowledges that the universe is 156 billion light years across. If that is the case, how did light from the most distant galaxies reach us in only 13 billion years? Maybe he should take a lesson from quantum mechanics! He explains "teleportation" where something can be dematerialized in one location and reconstructed instantaneously someplace else, how one particle can communicate its state to a distant particle instantly with no communication between them. Did it ever occur to him that quantum mechanics ALSO explains the light from distant galaxies, and that he doesn't need billions of years for light to travel to us? Why does he twist Scripture? He doesn't know the Hebrew says CLEARLY that God created everything in SIX ORDINARY EARTH ROTATION DAYS, and that to say otherwise is to denounce the inerrancy of God's word, and thus God Himself? God is the only eyewitness, and He told us what He did and how long it took. No evolution, folks! So I deducted a star from the rating because of this bad chapter. The rest of the book only mentions this in passing a couple of times, so not a major problem. But he needs to get his story straight. If quantum mechanics explains the Christian faith as he claims, he needs to apply it everywhere, and stop trying to pontificate about biology, of which he obviously knows nothing. It's worth a read if you like science and engineering and you are comfortable with a layman's explanations of complex technical subjects. Just ignore Chapter 3, and you'll be fine.

Every atheist should read this.
Very well written in easy to understand scientific subjects. All glory to God our Creator

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
I absolutely loved reading this book! It gives a great correlation of scientific discoveries to the presence of a divine Creator! It can be difficult to understand if you’re not familiar with scientific terminology, but definitely a 10/10 book!

Not really what I was looking for
Bought this for my 12yr old grandson, because he loved science, but maybe in time he'll understand why I gave it to him

This book is an example of Process Theology
Alfred North Whitehead and Charles Hartshorne originated and developed Process Theology. When I suffered from a faith crisis, I started thinking about quantum physics and God being everywhere (Panentheism) without an awareness that it had a name. I highly recommend this book despite that I disagree with some details about agreeing with traditional theology on some issues. If someone has a materialist mindset and doubts traditional theology, they will find some better answers in this book. I would like to coauthor a book with this author because I have three degrees from a theological seminary. Combining his scientific background with my theological background could result in an interesting book.

Wonderful! Amazing! A worthy read....👏🏻👏🏻
Enthralling ... only when I was very tired, reading late into the night because I didn’t want to put it down, did the subject start to feel over my head! It is so very, very well written. Like folding unfolding bit by bit a wonderful drawing gifted to by a child... a large paper all folded up... you see little bits, then more little bits, then more, each building on and adding to the next until the whole image is unfolded and my mind is still spinning around the astonishing reality presented this amazing book. I am so very grateful Mr O’Connell listened to God’s prompting and invested his time and others, to write this beautiful book. Thank you and Bravo!!!!

Correct observations (scientific) ,Wrong Interpretations
Dear Brother in Christ , your attempt is genuine but unfortunately lacks revelation from 'His Spirit' concerning creation, Noah's flood. You are correct about God and His sovereign presence in Everything but the desparation to unite science and God seems to have overtaken you to 'think' & ' presume' theories that do not prove itself in totality. DO NOT READ LEST YOU STUMBLE.
