Among the best in my collection
Although some of the pictures here were also in his other books (notably in "Sheer Opulence" or his book on his country place) there is still enough new material in this book for the confirmed Haslam-addict (count me as one). I've learned a lot from his books and consider them among the best in my collection.

Witty and worldly
I am reading this in accompaniment with his book of witty memoirs, he is a great social figure, but one with a very singular and personal design aesthetic, with a lot of historical references, and his own very personal touch. A treasure!

This book is all about him - but, I understand - decorators and designers have huge egos. In any case, I recommend the book and praise him for his first book on his country house - it's a masterpiece!

Major disappointment
After his last book, I was really looking forward to this book. Unfortunately, from an interior design standpoint, this was a huge disappointment. Too may photos from the eighties. Too much name dropping. And, really. Could there be more pictures of the designer in this book? Save your money.

Not his best book...photos of rooms very old and not current...too bad as he is a great designer...
