A quiet and effective humidifier for small rooms
This is a review after using the TaoTronics Cool Mist Humidifier for one week.I purposely did not read the directions since... well, it's a humidifier. How complicated could it be? TaoTronics did not disappoint. I took the device out of the box, removed the water tank, filled it with 60 ounces of water, replaced the tank on the base and turned it on full blast. Mist started coming out immediately.I then read the instruction manual, just in case. Three items I saw of interest. First, the humidifier is just for water. Do not add essential oils to it. Second, it has a small air intake fan at its base, so it should not be placed on anything (like carpets) that might block the intake. Third, it produces quite a bit of mist, even on the low settings. TaoTronics advises not using it too close to computers or heat sources. The humidifier has a variable control knob that lets you regulate how much mist comes out. When you turn off the device, the fan continues for a few minutes to dry the mist tube. It also comes with a small brush to clean the inevitable white dust that accumulates over time. TaoTronics recommends the device be emptied each day. I did not follow that advice, but I suppose it could be important if you are using it in a baby's room.I used the humidifier in a 300 square foot office; it has a 12 foot ceiling. The temperature in the office was 72 degrees. On the first day, I ran the humidifier at full blast. The 60 ounces of water lasted for 5.5 hours. The humidity in the room started at 47%, and ended at 53% when the device ran out of water (and shut itself off, automatically). The second day I ran the humidifier at its lowest setting. The 60 ounces of water lasted for 23 continuous hours. The starting humidity was 46%, and increased to 51% when the water ran out.On the third day I ran the humidifier at half throttle. The water lasted for 19 hours and increased the humidity from 46% to 57%.I found this to be a quiet and effective humidifier for my office.

Quietest Humidifier I've Ever Used
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I keep this humidifier near my bed at night as I always seem to have very dry nasal passages. I love the look of it. It's sleek, solid and well made. Use of this humidifier couldn't be easier. Just pull the tank off, flip it upside down, remove the cap and fill, then replace the tank and turn the dial! The mist is instant and I like that you can adjust the amount of mist with the dial. This is hands down the quietest humidifier I have ever used. As you can hear from the video, the only sound it makes is a quiet drip noise that you find with other sonic type diffusers. (The fan sound you hear is my A/C, not the humidifier.) Overall, I would highly recommend this.

TaoTronics Humidifiers helping with home humidity problems
I live in the north east and I have humidity problems in my home. I have baseboard heating. In the winter I have to run humidifiers and in the summer a dehumidifier. Prior to using humidifiers, I had damage (cracking) occur to my acoustic guitars and uke. Even my hardwood floors were being affected! I wound up using humidipaks and Tao humidifiers. I put a few hygrometers around the house and in my cases to monitor the humidity. Without the humidifiers, in the winter, I was hitting in the low 20% humidity range. With them, I've been in the 45% range. Good for the instruments, good for the floors and good for the family! I keep one Tao humidifier in the basement and one in my bedroom. So I am a satisfied / repeat customer.I wanted to get a small humidifier to put in my daughter's bedroom. She had been complaining about itchy skin. She's also very sensitive to noise, especially when sleeping. I've been running this one about a week now. This model is very, very quiet, with a good amount of mist (I'm keeping it set on the lower end). I refill once a day. My daughter loves it, and says she's not feeling itchy anymore. So far I am very satisfied with this humidifier. It's a keeper.I've been satisfied with the convenience of all the Tao humidifiers..... easy to fill, regular tap water, I clean them every couple of weeks, good mist.

Purchased Reviews
First you need to know they buy their 5 star reviews with a chance to win a $30 Amazon gift card. Secondly, you need to know how limited your options are on where to place it. They say not to place it on the floor, on metal, on carpet, or on towels. But you have to place it on a waterproof service. You also need to know that it wobbles and is very easy to tip over. Since it is for my plants, I went ahead and put it on my tiled kitchen floor, but will be buying a different brand for another room. On the plus side, it is very quiet.

Slim, sleek and subtle but has great humidity output. *pix*
What a pretty humidifier! This is small enough to put on a cluttered desk and not take up too much room. The reservoir holds about half a gallon of water. It is easy to fill: take it off the stand, turn it over, open the cover, fill, replace the cover tightly and replace on the base. The small directional flow valve on the top is not secured down and can be removed. If you tip this over to fill it, you will find that it will come out so be aware that the valve should be removed first so you don't misplace it.This is easy to use. A simple dial turns it on and off. It also adjusts the volume of water/humidity being produced.I found that the full reservoir emptied after about 9 hours on the highest setting. This would be perfect for a baby's room or anywhere that you want a quiet narrow humidifier that puts out the volume you choose.Great little unit. Very pleased with it.

Worked great...at first.
I bought this humidifier in Nov 2020 and now in April, it's leaking brown water from the bottom. Is that rust? It appears water may have gotten where it doesn't belong. I cleaned it (as best as you can. It's not very accessible.) and let it dry out for a couple days. I set it up again and it continued to leak rusty water from the bottom so I'm thinking something broke/cracked inside. The limited warranty only provides replacements but I don't want this again, so I'm not going to bother.
