Does what it needs to
Packs away very small and light, but when you need it you will be very happy you have it. I got rained on for almost 4 hours and not a single drop of water made it through this shell

Sense of security
Although my Explorer 40 is "water proof", I purchased the rain cover to address the winter downpours here in Costa Rica, and give me that extra level of confidence while protecting my camera equipment. Also, the Shimoda rain cover fits the backpack nicely and even has loops to anchor it to the backpack's waist belt. Used 1x already.

Just in case.
Purchased this as a "just in case" option. While very water-resistant, times may require more. It will also help during airline travel on board to keep everything in place.

Does what it's supposed to, and it fits
Fits right around both the 40L and 60L explore bags. I only wish, for the price of the bags themselves, that the material they used was just even more rain resistant to prevent having to use this item, but for <$10 you can't be too upset
