Finally a quality hose reel
I have purchased numerous hose reels over the years, most made in China, purchased from local retailers and Amazon (the marketing division of the Chinese Communist Party), and none were of the quality of this Ames hose reel. First, the Ames is MADE IN THE USA! I just love how other companies import Chinese garbage to sell here under names like Liberty and Patriot, terms that are absolutely foreign to the people of China. This hose reel is made with high quality materials and top level workmanship. I could tell right out of the box this product was top-of-the-line. It works well and is easy to use. I pump over 10,000 gallons of water a summer through hoses and irrigation systems, and it is a joy finally having a real quality hose reel I can count on to hold up, work flawlessly, and not leak like a sieve after a couple of uses.Do yourself a favor, buy quite possibly the last hose reel you'll ever need; Get the Ames.

Easy to install, durable and works well.
I've purchased and installed 6 of these now at several residences, and all but the recent purchased is 5+ years old. They work great. I had to replacee only one unit after several years because the top right mounting corner broke - which was likely due to me leaning too hard on the unit and / or over-driving the mounting screw.I've attached all of these to a residential brick wall using Tapcon screws. Very easy and durable mount.

Exact fit to the old model
I've had the older model for a number of years, and it held up well using a very long heavy duty 3/4 inch hose. I'd put it under a lot of stress many times, reeling the hose in sometimes too fast from various angles with sudden jerks and stops as the long hose caught up in one thing or another during the wind.At one point the upper right mounting area cracked. I added a bracket and wire to it, and the repair was good for two more years. I didn't realize that it had loosened up, and this time the crack extended way too far. This new model looks much the same as the old, and I saved time as the mounting holes to the house lined up exactly to where the last ones were. From what I've read of these reviews, I'd advise others to add the L-Brackets as some have suggested. I believe if I had thoughts about that a long time ago, I'd still be cranking that old one now.

An inexpensive hose reel
I don't need the 225-foot hose capacity, more like 50 feet, but this was available at a good price so I bought it. It was fully assembled and ready to use - just mount it to the wall and connect the hoses. It works well and seems sturdy. I especially like the shelf on top which is convenient for storing watering accessories. I only have two minor complaints about this hose reel, otherwise it would have been a 5-star rating. My main complaint is about how the supply hose attaches. The connection on the reel assemble stick straight out, so the included supply hose ends up bending down. It will be OK for a while, but that crimp will eventually stress the hose and cause it to leak. My solution was to buy a cheap 90-degree adapter so the supply hose no longer bends. My second complaint is that I wish the "feeder" was mechanically tied to the reel so that it would move back and forth as the hose is being rewound. I knew when I bought this reel that the feeder was totally manual, but it would have been much easier to use if it moved back and forth on its own.Other than those two minor issues, I'd recommend this hoes reel.

Very fair price for this premium wall mount hose reel
Works very nicely! I've owned several different hose reels over the years and this is by far the nicest one I've ever had. The biggest difference is how smooth it feels when you are winding up your hose. Make sure you don't over-crank on the mounting screws when you are installing it...

A reel with some strong points
Overall, this appears to be a quality product, fulfilling its two main functions of serving and storing a hose while containing water. I appreciate that it comes fully assembled and I particularly like the rotating handle (at the end of the crank arm) in comparison to the merely smooth handle of my previous and older reels (Suncast/Craftsman), which worked best when your hand was wet. I am concerned about the potential future cracking of the plastic frame visible in other reviewers' photos and wish that the design included extra reinforcement at those attachment points (typically at top-of-frame) where there's a great deal of stress. However, the five-year warranty is decent (particularly for a plastic item undergoing great mechanical stress and exposed to the elements) and I will be taking advantage of it if necessary.

Absolute Garbage - Waste of Money
The media could not be loaded. Comically enough, the appearance, installation and setup were easy. But when the rubber hose met the road, this thing should be called Always Leak. As usual with these reels, the feed hose attaches to an outer pipe that then attaches to an inner pipe, which is designed to spin freely since it’s inside the reel on which the hose itself winds around. The inner/outer join is made with a ring/groove setup (pretty common for the need to spin 360 at all times), but the strength of that fit it is beyond weak. It’s nonexistent. Every time the slightest amount of water would flow, the ring would pop out of the groove and water sprayed everywhere before it ever reached inside the hose itself. No amount of reinforcement helped, as the ring/groove would always find a way to separate and spew water everywhere. This is the worst-built house reel I’ve ever had in 25+ years of owning homes. Find something different, whatever you do, don’t waste your money on this.

Ames Neverleak Poly Wall Mount Reel
I love this reel. It is well built and reels in the hose super fast and smooth. I have 100 feet of very heavy duty hose on it and it works great. I highly recommend.
