Hasbro Transformers Platinum Edition Year of The Goat Exclusive Masterpiece Soundwave

As a kid my older cousin’s had the original soundwave and I always wanted him, unfortunately the vintage and retro ones are rather expensive. This one fell into the high end of my price range but in the words of Tom Haverford, “treat yo’self”. I also happen to have been born in the year of the goat (1991). I got it in the mail a few days ago and still haven’t brought myself to open it which is a challenging feat for me. Aside from a few minor dings on the box (scratches on the box not dents) it arrived in great condition. Looking for the Optimus Prime YOTG edition now!

An awesome set of figures, this is a repaint of the Masterpiece Soundwave & Decepticon Tapes. The color scheme may be a turnoff to most - Soundwave is clear with some painted gold/bronze areas, and the tape minions are a mix of gray & clear plastic with some paint of their colors - but it's quite fine in my book!! Best thing is that it's the ONLY HASBRO MP SOUNDWAVE to have the proper anime accurate red eyes. Worst thing is that the tape ejection mechanism sucks, but that was a problem with the regular Hasbro release AND both Takara versions (Soundwave & Soundblaster), so that's an unfortunate moot point to an otherwise awesome set.UPDATE 2019Feb11: Be VERY careful. That clear plastic??? It doesn't hold up over time. Soundwave and his Minions are almost all junkers now. That started happening within a year.

Christmas gift for my grandson. He stated it was the best Lego gift he ever received. 13 years old.

It just bland! I'm afraid to transform the cassettes, because they look like they will break. I hate the fact that laserbeak and Buzzsaw are the same color. Rumble and Frenzy are the same too! It is so cheaply made that I don't see why they couldn't include Ratbat. I would return this in a heartbeat!
