SteelmanTPMS Service Tool Kit (1-Piece Valve Core Torque Tool)

Do not buy unless you want to over torque and destroy your valve core. I have used Steelman products before and liked their performance but not in this case. I tried this tool to torque a few valve cores in multiple types of tire valve stems and each time it felt like I was WAY over torquing and stripping the valve core. The tool was supposed to be set at 4 inch pounds of torque which is perfect since the installation torque for standard cores per ISO standards is 3 – 5in. I work at a facility that has a calibration lab with precise torque equipment so I decided to test this tool to see if it was accurate. It was way off, nearly double the specified "4 inch lb". The reading varied from 6.5 to 8 inch pounds. I find that the readings changed slightly because there are multiple plastic ramps on the inside of the tool that are not perfectly consistent and where the plastic seems to get into a bind. I will note that after clicking the tool over 100 times the torque value did go down to around 6.5 to 7 in lb. Judging by the cheap design of this tool and only having one tool to test I can not say if all the tools would be off by this much by I can almost grantee that none of these tools will be close to the specified torque value. I am sure there are better more expensive valve core tools out there that do a good job but for now I will just go back to my normal ways of torquing to feel.

Just good to know that would be over tightening the valve core. If you are going to do anything in life do it to the best of you ability.

No issues after year of use. Daily use in tire shop removing or installing valve cores to the proper torque. Exposed to the various chemicals one may find in a tire shop and still holding strong.

Great tool, but a little bit in the small size. It works just fine and I guess if I didn't have large hands it would be perfect.

I use it every day at work for changing tires. Feels solid, the color is nice and the torque clicker works well on metal valve stems especially with direct TPMS.

operates as designed needs a pocket clip built on it , first use it was very tight almost didn't want to click , after first use works great

I have purchased this tool a couple months ago. Havent broke yet. I find the torque on it is a little high. The schrader valve goes a little too deep so I usually stop before it clicks.
