Professor (Year 1961) *Shammi Kapoor, Kalapana, Lalita Pawar

First let me say that I am not Indian, but I love and respect Indian culture immensely; so I hope my interpretation of this film is sound. Shammi Kapoor was one of the most popular and beloved actors in Indian film. In his dual roles as a struggling student Pritam and as The Professor, Shammi delights us with his charismatic charm and infectious comedic and emotional expressiveness. Light-hearted musical numbers are set against the backdrop of lushly beautiful Darjeeling as it was back in 1962. As the beleaguered Pritam, Shammi's irrepressible sensuality eventually sweeps The Professor's young student Neena (Kalpana) off her feet, despite her fear of her repressive and domineering custodian aunt, Sita Devi (splendidly acted by the beautiful Lalita Pawar). Much drama ensues when stern Sita uncovers Pritam's charade. Great story has all the ingredients -- sexy, sweet, tragic and funny -- that will tug at your heart strings. Very enjoyable.

The songs are just beautiful in this movie!!
