The most fun drum machine for me south of 400$. I've tried the TR 08, Volca Beats / Drums. For me, the sounds are good & simpler to manipulate then on the Volcas, easily expanded to16+ steps and more intuitive & accessible for live play. Only downside for me was build quality of the battery box. Had to put in a spring to make it work. Not sure they forgot it, or whether it came off after first battery exchange.Biggest flaw for me is that it misses a sync in / out to easily talk to Korg devices.

Some time ago, I tried using my Novation Circuit to sequence some synthesizers and enjoyed it immensely. I used the Circuit for drums, note and pattern sequencing, and master clock. Eventually I wanted different tones other than the kick, snare, hi hat and ride cymbal that the Circuit offers. Since the drums in the Circuit take up two of it's four tracks, I searched for another sequencer and gave up.Fast forward to now, I got a Launchpad Pro MK3. It fits my needs based off the Circuit perfectly, but now I needed a drum machine or synth. Enter this UNO Drum.This synth is way more capable than I gave it credit for!! It's sequencer is surprisingly robust, the drum tones have, in my opinion, the right amount of dialing flexibility. I'm able to alter the tones to the point of being highly noticeable, but I don't feel overwhelmed by options either. Having a broad variety of drum kits to choose from further encourages creative experimentation.To go back to my note about this synth's built in sequencer, obviously I'm not utilizing it. I'm using my Launchpad Pro to sequence it, which it does fine with proper setup. When I first tried sending some MIDI commands to this synth at first, it did some startling things like playing it's own step-sequenced patterns, switching drum kits and so on. I finally did the sensible thing and read the manual, which revealed to me that this synth was trying to pull it's own weight by handling some of the sequencing and performance duties itself.For the time being, I'm keeping it simple and just having this synth take note commands from my LP Pro, so as not to stunt my creative enthusiasm. I'm happy to know that this synth has capabilities for me to grow into though!Finally, a note about the tones of this UNO Drum: While you can easily look up videos of this on the internet and judge for yourself, I'm happy to say this synth has some very nice drum tones. You can dial them to sound more natural, or more synthesized, more "electronic" per se. Heck, even the sequencer has a timing option called "Human" that, as you may have guessed, tweaks the timing of sequences just a little, to mimic a human drummer. As I'm just a bedroom guitarist that noodles with synths, I can't speak with authority has to how authentic this feature is, but I'm glad to have it there! Heck, maybe I'll use this to make up some drum tracks to jam along with on my guitar!!UPDATE: After having owned this thing for a few months, it has turned into a fire liability. It has killed several batteries and fried a USB power supply.It began a couple of weeks ago. I hadn't done any "DAW-less" jamming in a while so I sat down to do just that. I noticed after a few minutes, the UNO Drum was flashing "BAtt" on it's display. I was a bit surprised, since I'd dropped fresh batteries in it the last time I used it but went and grabbed another fresh set of batteries. I noticed when I took the first set of batteries out, that they were REALLY warm to the touch, almost hot. I hoped it was just a fluke, and put the fresh batteries I'd grabbed earlier in. After a few minutes of use, the UNO Drum once again flashed "BAtt". Once again, the batteries were nearly hot to the touch. Probing them with my multimeter showed one of the three batteries had less than 0.6 volt in it, with the other two reading at normal levels. Again, these were fresh batteries that I had bought a couple of weeks before.So, I tried USB power. I used an adapter rated at 2 amps, which I figured would be more than enough to power the UNO Drum. Once again, a few minutes after use, the UNO Drum began wildly flashing it's LEDs and shut down. It would not power back up. Probing the adapter, which is of course rated at five volts, it was only outputting about 0.1 volt now!I emailed IK Multimedia immediately, detailing the events I just covered. Now, a week and a half later, they replied, saying they needed to discuss what to do with my UNO Drum and to stand by! I understand that the holidays are nearly upon us at the time of writing this update, but this is ridiculous!I dislike having to update my reviews in such negative ways, but I find the dangerous nature of this UNO Drum and the lack of concern from IK Multimedia to be completely unacceptable. I cannot encourage anyone at all to buy an UNO Drum, or any product from IK Multimedia now.

You would have had to pay a lot for this in the 80's

I’m loving my Uno Drum. I’m a solo artist and this drum machine allows me to set it and forget it, but also allowing me to quickly manipulate the beats and add affects on the fly during a break in guitar, or while singing. If you have the Uno Synth, then the Uno Drum becomes even more handy. The Uno Drum with guid the Uno Synth to the tempo, and take control of the synth, giving me and other solo artists or band member (that may have more than one job) more freedom to fill in more sounds and layers using other instruments.The Uno Drum is also fantastic for stand alone recording or just a fun little jam in the basement with buddies. Anyway you use the Uno Drum it will not disappoint.Sit back, relax, and enjoy making music.

I'm no professional but this is an amazing drum machine. I have a Volca Drum, Novation Circuit, MPC1000 and a Korg ER-1. (I also owned a Drumbrute for a bit but sold it because it lacked versatility.) The UNO has everything a person like me could need. The analog sounds are deep and rich, and the PCM sounds are infinitely programmable. I would highly reccomend this machine. A few months ago I downloaded some of the sound packs they offer on their website. I can't do any A/B comparisons with the drum machines they are emulating, but dang they sound just like them. I can't express how much I enjoy this dtum machine.

I've owned this device for over a year now and found that this is just not a suitable drum machine for any purpose I can think of. I like the simple layout (that's why I was drawn to it), but I found that it just doesn't hold up when in use. These are my biggest issues:-The lack of actual pads really affects the enjoyability of actually performing patterns so you are stuck punching in events on the sequencer (which are also flat surface buttons). It's very easy to not hit the correct contact. The whole flat surface concept may have seemed cool in theory, but it just doesn't work in practice.-There's an awful noise when triggering any of the drum samples. I'm not sure exactly what the issue is here (I'm on the latest firmware version 1.0.3), but whatever it is I don't believe it's going away via software update. It makes any sound coming out of this thing pretty much unusable and thin. It's a high pitched digital "sizzle" artifact that I can't imagine anyone enjoying the sound of.-The power connection is USB. It's a HUGE inconvenience to have to track down a compatible USB cable plus a power brick (and hope that your cord is long enough to reach). You can power it with batteries, but it eats through them very quickly. Really should've just went with a standard AC adapter.-The knobs move so easily (and are so close together) that it's too easy to knock the beat off tempo. They feel way too "loose". I can't imagine anyone having success performing with this thing.-Only outputs in mono, but that is very minor compared to my previous complaints.I do like the idea of a simple layout and small footprint, but it just doesn't do the main thing it's supposed to do well enough to be worth anyone's time. Maybe if they sorted out the noise issue, added some nice pads/knobs, and powered it with a standard AC adapter they would have a great device. Definitely seek out another device.

Some elements of this drum machine are amazing. However, I can’t see its full potential as I’ve just been sent a second fault unit that has exactly the same problem as the first unit that I received. It currently will not let me save any kits or patterns that I program in. IK multimedia have so far refused to respond to my request for support and I am not the only person that is either having this problem with units bought recently or is experiencing no support from IK multimedia whatsoever.The only support I have received so far has been from Amazon who have been amazing in taking back the original unit and sending out a replacement, although it looks like this replacement unit is going to need to be returned as well.Honestly, save your money and a massive headache and either wait for IK Multimedia to acknowledge and fix this issue with the units that have recently been shipped out to stores or just buy a different make and model.I really wish they would respond and come up with a fix, because if it wasn’t for the fact that their is a massive fault in recently shipped units, this would be an amazing drum machine.Update... 2 days later...Amazon have kindly replaced the second machine with a third one which will be arriving today.IK customer support have sent me one email during this process asking me what firmware was on the machine. I replied promptly and am still waiting for a response from them over 36 hours later.Other people are starting to get responses from IK customer support stating that they are only now looking into this matter and will get back to them at some point in the future.If it wasn’t for the fact that the sounds on the unit are amazing I honestly really wouldn’t bother wasting money on this product until people start saying that fully functioning units are now being sent out.

If i was you don't get this the drum sound are not bad if you use it with just the batterys its ok but when youconect it to your computor to use in your Daws it hums so bad it just pist me off i should have taken the other pearsons advice and not got it

This is a Great little drum,step sequencer machine, I've has this for a few days now, its easy to use although I recommend YouTube for a tutorial on some features.

This machine is absolutely amazing. This is the best drum machine I have ever heard.
