Works great to hold heat in and slows evaporation.
We have been using this for years! Works great to hold heat in and slows evaporation, especially early and late in the season.

Works well!
Probably not as well as a solar cover. I see some steam come off once in a while at night. But if I keep up with it every seven days, I see very little steam coming off my pool at night. If I go much longer than seven days, I see the water evaporating.

Perfect to hold temp of the pool in winter
Year round pool in Florida requires heating, a cap full of this stuff per week, keeps the temp warm even with overnight chill.

Difficult to say if this has had any effect on temperature or water loss
I've used this product for three weeks and I have my pool filler on a device that measures precisely how much water I'm adding. So far there is no obvious change in water usage, certainly nothing dramatic. Of course it is hard to be certain since temps and wind are highly variable so unless you have very consistent weather and do some back to back trials it would be hard to isolate the effect unless it was very dramatic.Really in terms of water loss my water costs $0.005 per gallon so at current retail prices the 4 floz weekly addition for my pool costs $3 so that would require saving 600 gallons of water over the week or 85 gallons per day. Given my daily average usage right now, with ~100F daily temps is about 100 gal per day I would definitely have noticed that kind of savings. At best I think it could be a few gallons per day.As for temperatures again it is really hard to isolate changing daily temps from any effect this might have but thus far I don't see anything significant. The only really positive thing I can say is this product is undetectable when added to my pool. No sheen or oil feel like people have said. I'm pretty certain those people must have added the entire bottle at once - i've definitely read a few reviews where they mention adding multiple doses and even 16oz at one go. If you're adding more than recommended you're definitely just wasting product for no added benefit. If you add the correct amount to a 400 sf pool the layer will be 3 microns thick. Literally a few thousand or so atoms thick and atoms are very very small.

Seems to do exactly what it says it will.
I held off writing a review until I had some time with this product. My pool is 25,000 gallons in the mid west. I have been adding 5oz every week for about 5 weeks. The evaporation loss has been minimal. I normally have to add water every couple of weeks, but not at all this year so far. There have been rains, but there are every year. What I was having trouble measuring was the solar blanket portion of their claim. Yesterday my pool was 83, this morning at 7 am it was 79. Our outside had dropped to 55 because of cold front that passed through. 4 degrees, but the interesting thing is that by this afternoon it had climbed back up to 82 under partly sunny skies and a high temperature of 75. I did not run the heater at any point.

Doesn't work and increases filter pressure
This doesn't work well at all. I didn't expect it to be as good as a plastic cover, but this one really didn't do much. I lost 2 degrees with the plastic cover the night before I used this. The first night that I used this I lost 5 degrees. The second night I added more product thinking that maybe the initial dosing wasn't enough. Nope. I lost 1 degree before 11pm. I'm not sure how much I actually lost overnight since I left early in the morning before the pump turned on, but the end of day temperature for day 2 was well below what I was seeing with the other brand of liquid cover. I saw steam coming off of the water both mornings, something that I didn't see with the other brand. I also saw a rise in my filter pressure with this. My clean filter pressure is 10 psi. My filter was at 11 psi when I added this, and then it went up to 13 psi right away. It went up even more when I added the second dose. I have a Hayward cartridge filter. I won't be using the rest of this bottle and will need to figure out how to dispose of it safely.

Raised water temp by ~2 degrees
We have an irregular-shaped pool with a small deck surrounding it, so using a pool cover is difficult, and we don't have a pool heater as we live in central Texas. I read up on liquid thermal pool covers and thought I'd try it.This stuff does work as advertised. It will keep the temperature about 1-2 degrees warmer than normal. Even in early spring, when it got in the 50s and low 60s at night, the pool temp would be in the low to mid 70s in the morning. It would be a cold swim but adequate for workouts as you don't get overheated.Currently, the daytime temps are in the upper 80s and lower 90s and the water temperature has been 86 in the morning, reaching 89-90 degrees in the afternoon. It's actually too warm for exercise swimming so I've stopped adding the liquid cover for the summer, which has brought the temperature back down to mid-80s.A couple of key things to know: use the liquid cover weekly to ensure there is enough coverage and turn your pump off (or at least on low) during the night, as that is when the cover prevents heat from leaving.Obviously, the liquid cover doesn't stop debris, animals, or insects from getting into the pool but if you just want your pool season to be a bit longer, this is perfect for helping to retain heat. It also means you don't have to use your pool heater as much, if you have one.

Works pretty well
So, in the morning my pool temp is 75 degrees even if I heated it to 82 the prior day. It will always drop significantly overnight. Heated it yesterday to 81 added 4oz of this, Temps dropped to low 60's overnight, woke up in morning and my pool temp was 80. I would say it works pretty well!

Pool is now milky and gross.
I put this in the pool and immediately the entire pool was covered in foam like a giant bathtub. Two days later and the entire pool is this disgusting milky white and you cannot see the bottom. It has had zero effect on evaporation. What the hell is this crap that has made my pool unuseable?
