Buy if you are concerned with luggage latch failure, but not security.
I like it. As others have stated, the belt quality is nice and I'm confident it will keep my luggage from spilling out. I have a hard shell Samsonite 32" that it fits around. As far as security, it's a mild deterrent. I would go as far as to say that it's not really secure as I can loosen the strap with the adjustment buckle and get enough slack to open the suitcase. For those that stated that it slides off...well duh...the only way it stays in place is to route it through the carrying handle and the tow handle. If you only have one or the other, it can come off. The other reviews state that the combination setting instructions are wrong. There are two sets of locks pictured in the instructions. One is a TSA compliant lock and the other is not. Reviewers are failing to read the second page. Getting the buckle though the loop is not difficult either, you should not have to jam it through. One side in at a time takes care of the trick. My suitcase has three total latches and that includes the main non-TSA locking latch that I cannot use. Years ago (as TSA locks were starting to come up), I set the the combo on it and TSA broke the lock to get into the suitcase. The remaining two latches did not hold up well and my luggage went around the carousel with duct tape and clothes hanging out. I since replaced that main latch, but never lock it. This strap is not any more secure than the latch. We are not talking about lugging a safe around. The lock is just meant to be an inconvenience to a luggage snoop and/or prevent accidental opening. For lack of a better statement, it's a child proof cap on a tylenol bottle.Summary: Buy this if you want a quality, non elastic strap to ensure your suitcase stays closed. The security aspect is minimal, but will deter inept thieves.

The concept is great but someone at the factory isn't paying attention to ...
I have tried ordering three of these straps and am getting ready to return the third one in a row. The problem is that the top buckle on the strap to tighten it on the suitcase is on the reverse side of the strap which will cause damage to the suitcase. The only fix for this is to go to a seamstress and have them fix it for you which will cost you at least 8 dollars. The concept is great but someone at the factory isn't paying attention to qulity control. If you look at the attached photo you will see there is no way to flip the buckle around properly.

Good product, needs some minor modifications to make more secure, summary of use.
I've given this 5 stars because I think it is a sturdy, well designed, and reasonably priced product. In reading other reviews, there are several comments I'd like to make. Regarding the adjusting buckle being upside down, the reviewer is wrong. It does appear that way at first BUT after the strap is threaded through the triangular metal cross buckle, the adjusting buckle will then be on the outside, correctly oriented. Second main thing, SECURITY. I agree with one reviewer saying that AS IS, it's really not that secure, because you can easily loosen the strap via the adjusting buckle, and it will all slip off - THIS IS TRUE. HOWEVER, now that I have it adjusted to my suitcase, I have stitched the strap next to the adjusting buckle so now it cannot be loosened. This may not be something people want to deal with, but it will solve the problem of being able to loosen the strap. You will also only be able to use it on the luggage it was adjusted to, BUT the stitching could be undone and readjusted later if desired. This might be something the manufacturer would want to look at to give the user a way to secure this buckle (some sort of oneway pin or some clever engineering solution to incorporate the lock with the adjusting buckle?).Also, although this may defeat the general purpose, I am not planning to use this for checking this luggage through TSA. It does have the TSA lock, but as someone mentioned and is true for me too, TSA has broken my locks in the past. Plus, if you're traveling internationally, other countries will gladly break your TSA locks (or cut your straps), as TSA is a United States agency and other countries will likely not respect your locks (I would highly encourage NOT using your TSA locks when traveling internationally, especially if you have a lock that's built into your luggage, your luggage may be seriously damaged). Also, in all honesty, TSA will be very unlikely to be able to put this strap back on properly once removed. It might be entertaining to watch, but I suspect it will either be put inside your luggage after the inspection (if you're lucky) or thrown away. My main intent is for using this strap on cruise ships where you often have to leave your luggage to be handled by the cruise ship staff and NOTE that, even if your luggage is zipped up, and locked with normal locks (TSA or otherwise) dishonest people can EASILY open a zipped up piece of luggage and re-zip it, and you'd never know (Google or YouTube if you want to verify). With this strap they can't do that. I've also run into a situation where I need to temporarily store my luggage and want to make it as difficult as possible to open and to discourage tampering. Nothing is 100%, but if the adjustment strap is sewn or somehow made to prevent loosening the strap (large safety type pins, large staples?) this an inexpensive and decent solution.

Very Durable and Great Peace of Mind
This lock is a little fussy to put on (especially for the first time), but once adjusted for your bag, it holds on tight and makes the luggage easy to spot. I mainly purchased it because I was concerned about my aging luggage being packed to capacity and surviving a trip to Hawaii plus three inter-island flights. It did its job in giving me peace of mind and held up really well through 7 flights around a 48lb bag.I bought a similar one with a rainbow design because I liked that it stood out; it did stand out, but did not hold its shape as well as the material on this one (which is more seatbelt-like). I will probably buy another one of these to replace the rainbow one for my other long-haul bag.
