The first few times I tried this I ended up with very crunchy wet-looking hair that I could not scrunch the crunch out of. Sometimes I'd crunch the hell out of it just to find it had re-crunchified a while later. The fix, I discovered, is to apply it very sparingly, and to wet my hands before picking up a glob of it and rub them together with this product to wet it down before applying to hair, sparingly. Done right, it doesn't get crunchy and gives me ~5 days of reasonable hold.I have naturally porous 3B curls, I do curly girl per the r/curlyhair wiki, and I apply the following stack of products in order to clean and conditoned hair while still wet:1.) The media could not be loaded. Don't know what happened but went to use this and it was semi-solid and unusable. Was more like super hard jello than anything I could put in my hair. I did try to put some in my hand and it crumbled into little pieces. I'm sure this jar is an outlier and have asked for a replacement. Finger-crossed it isn't like this one.UPDATE: Received second jar and it's the same. I went to Shea's website and discovered a number of customers writing in with the same problem. So Shea itself is aware they have a defective product on the market. I use this to compliment my styling mousse (design essentials avacado mousse?). The foam alone isn't enough hold for my wash n go's or braid/twist outs to last a week. Adding a small amount of this product gives me the lasting hold and definition I need. May curls are shiny and bouncy and light. There's the slightest crunch after air drying or diffusing, but it easily breaks once I shake out and scrunch my dry curls. Also, no flaking, because it mixes well with my styling foam. (I test that by taking a lil of the products I plan to use together and mixing them on my hand. If they blend into a seamless mixture, it won't flake. If it separates, it will.)Hair "type": coily 3b-4a hair that sits a few inches below my shoulders.

Perfect light hold for 3A, 3B, 3C, and 4A, 4B, 4C types of curls. You can apply this product on wet to damp hair using prayer hands, rake through, and then scrunch. You will be left with beautiful curls after it dries; there is a slight crunch but you can break the gel cast after it dries. It also leaves my hair looking shiny and hydrated. I adore this line. Please try it out it's worth it.

The product is very, very dense. It leaves an unpleasant amount of residue in the hair which results in poor texture.In order to get a soft texture, once it dries, I have to dilute the product 1:1 with water before applying.The smell is very nice.

I can't live without this. You're not supposed to use it like you use regular gel. ALSO, make sure your hair loves glycerin. That's the only way this will work. Do a wash-n-go like you normally do...use your normal gel you usually use, dry your hair. Once your wash-n-go is complete....take a SMALL amount of the Souflee (like scrape it onto the palm of your hands and rub your hands together till it almost dissapears)....use that small amount for your WHOLE HEAD. It'll make your curls soft and juicy and when you refresh your curls each day, your hair will hold onto the moisture.DO NOT USE THIS LIKE REGULAR GEL. There's a science to this. This jar should last you YEARS if you use it correctly. This is a gel topper. Not a regular gel.If your hair hates glycerin...this product isn't for you. If your hair loves glycerin, you'll love this product

Ok, so i felt terrible for impulsively buying this cause the reviews were brutal! Once it arrived, as described, it was solid and gelatinous. I was like howww will i get this on my hair even ???WATER!! You break it apart with your fingers and then add water and BADABING, it’s beautiful. My curls are no longer frizzy, i can look super cute for my zoom date :,) If you don’t mind the two extra steps, I recommend.
