An enjoyable book. I read it in just a couple of days and plan to use it as a read aloud for my 5th grade class this year. If you are considering the purchase. Just click and get reading.

Absolutely great...
I'm not such a huge fan of books written in verse, but the theme of this book and the characters who bring it to life are just so fascinating and authentic. I love the closeness between Annie and her grandpa. I could feel myself sitting with my grandmother during her last days. She knew who I was until almost the very end. I hate that she's gone, but the love that we shared is quite the same as the one Annie has with her grandpa. And, that is just one of several important relationships Annie experiences throughout this book! Sweet story.

Love
I am an adult, but still love to read Sharon Creech books. I read them to my daughter when she was in home school, and I still love to read them. I love the characters in this story. I resonate with Annie, even though I am not a runner. I am always happy and sad when one of these books end.

Creech does it again
Sharon Creech never fails to wring at at least a bit of emotion out of me and she did it again with the relationship between Annie and her failing grandpa. This is a simple story told in an interesting way and it deals with some pretty deep subject matter. I wasn't as moved by this book as I was by Creech's Love That Dog, which is written in the same prose, but this story is much more complex and less emotion based. It is a very good book. As a teacher I would recommend it to fifth or sixth grade girls.

A Different Kind of Novel
The pace of this book was a like running a race and pages turned so rapidly I couldn't believe there was a story here, too. And every page, made me want to turn to find what happened next. I loved the words from a thesaurus remembering the first time I saw one, better than a dictionary because there were so many new words that you didn't know you could look up.

Read-Read
Two years ago I already bought this one as a hardcover and now I bought it again for my Kindle. It's one of the rare books that I really wanted to read again. And eventually again. More than once I thought of it when I was away from home and short on "thump-thumps". Means motivation to get some physical excercise. Also I like the wisdom of this little story and especially the poetic way in which it is written.
