PORTER-CABLERouter Template, 5/8-Inch (42045)

Since I damaged my original by trying to modify it (don’t ask) I needed this so I’m glad I could find an exact replacement. The only difference I can see is that the etched number is easier to read than the old one that this is replacing.

I use a 1/2" spiral upcut bit with this size bushing. I do that to route repetitive complex items from a pattern. I really like this bushing since it is so tall it doesn't easily slip out on top of the pattern causing you to ruin the pattern. I have many other size bushings that work with different sized bits. And many of them are very shallow in depth and therefore easily slip out of the pattern.I normally make all of my patterns out of 1/2" thick plywood as that is plenty thick enough and it isn't as expensive. Becuase this bushing is a little more than 1/2" tall you cannot use it "as is" with a pattern made of 1/2" ply. I solved this by using a grinder and grinding it down to a little less than the thickness of 1/2" plywood. Now it works great.

Product was just what I needed, minus the nut that was necessary to use it. It would be nice to have known the the nuts are sold separately!

This product is exactly as shown. Holds up well.
