Ironing Mat
This is a wonderful product. It is sturdy, durable, and easy to use. It’s large enough to iron quilting pieces but small enough to store easily. Make sure to use a medium heat setting on your iron because too high of a heat will melt the mat. I would definitely buy this product again.

Super pressing mat!!
This is the first time I have used a wool mat and I am very glad I chose this one. Of course when you use steam, it is going to smell a bit, but it just smells like wool - not any different than steaming wool clothes. When used with a wooden clapper, seams are flat, flat, flat! Love it.

Did not meet my expectations
Didn’t use very often but when I started using regularly it left a buildup on my iron. The build up was black and could not be removed. I’m thinking maybe glue in the pad fibers. Would not recommend.

How did I live without it
I absolutely love this mat, it saves time on ironing, no steam needed, convenient size, need I say more.

I love my craft room again
It turns out I don't hate ironing; I just hate my ironing board. Until a month ago, I'd never heard of a wool pressing mat, but if I had, I would have considered it an absolutely necessary sewing tool. It sits at the end of my cutting table, with a low profile, and when I need to iron I simply walk to the end of the table and press my fabric. I bought the larger one because I wanted to be able to press dress pieces, and I'm glad I did. I haven't had any issues with sticking (I saw one review mention that and it made me nervous, but I don't even feel a hint of that), and while there is a slight smell when used for a long period, it's barely noticeable and not at all unpleasant. That being said, this thing could smell like a barn and I'd still prefer it to my clanky, horrible, giant ironing board.I do wish it had some kind of grippers on the bottom because it does slide around my slick wood table a bit, but it's not a big deal and this way it's usable on both sides and there's nothing to melt. Other than that, the only thing I wish is that I'd known about this years ago.

Lovely but one problem
I do like this mat and have been using it for many months. The smell does wear off and it does help with pressing BUT I learned the hard way that occasionally little bits come off and under a hot iron they will burn and cause a black stain on what you are pressing. No one else seems to have mentioned this but my friend has the exact same mat and has the same issues. So we keep our mats covered, when pressing, with a piece of white cotton :)

Poor Quality
I bought two of these mats however found that the both the moisture and heat transferred through the mat to the table below. After using for just a few minutes the table below the mat was soaking wet and warm. The mat itself had darkened where the moisture had wicked through the thickness of the wool. I found one mat to be much worse than the other but both were poor quality. I have a smaller mat that I got elsewhere and this does not happen with that one so I know what I should be expecting from a wool mat. I would not recommend this item.

This wool mat provides a nice smooth surface for ironing.
This wool ironing mat has a soft smooth surface. It's a good size for someone with a small working space. I certainly wouldn't want one smaller than the 17" x 24" that I purchased. I used it to block and steam iron small woolen tapestries I had made and it held my pins in place while I was doing so. My pieces were able to dry directly on the mat. It is a dense enough thickness to provide a protective surface on the countertop while applying heat and lightweight enough to move around easily. It air dried quickly and completely afterwards. It is a bit costly and I've never used a wool mat before so I have no basis of comparison with other such products on the marketplace. So far I'm very pleased with this purchase and I look forward to seeing how it holds up after numerous uses.

Amazing
I bought this several months ago but did not use it until recently. I quilt and have always had issues with pressing seams. I got a better ironing board pad & cover, I bought a great Rowenta iron, still not happy with my seams. Wow this wool pad has changed things. Perfectly flat seams - I wish I’d had one the very first time I ever sewed anything. And it makes stubborn fabric wrinkles disappear. I love it.

Use dry iron on the mat; no steam.
The size makes it a handy and portable item. The quality is good and it is very compressed and has a smooth surface. It allows me to iron one side as the heat transfers through to the underside of the piece. Excellent for quilters. Gifted a friend one as well for her birthday. She had been eyeing it for sometime and was quite pleased to get it. She is also very happy with the quality of the wool mat.
