The hooks with the wing nuts were cheap and almost like it was added after manufacturing for safety reasons
It worked okay, but I had to rent an additional set from O'reily's because in order to compress the struts to unbolt the strut on my car a third one was needed. Also, doing the rear strut on my car wold have been impossible with these because the space in the wheel well was so tight on my car. The hooks with the wing nuts were cheap and almost like it was added after manufacturing for safety reasons. The coil springs are very dangerous! Having the extra set of spring compressors I rented was well worth it to.

I rate this model tool as excellent from experience.
This tool was supposed to be an exact replacement from my previous tool which finally failed (over decade old) due to crossed threading. The only difference between this model and my previous model are the threads. It seems that my old tool had finer threads versus the current which appears to be ACME threads. Otherwise my old tool was dependable, well made and did NOT use inferior materials which appears the same with this new model.I haven't used it yet but feel very confident that it will outperform my last tool. I've ordered some other similar tools and inspected others which seem to be using inferior materials or not well made and thus are NOT safe to use. In my opinion this is very important when working with high powered springs.I rate this model tool as excellent from experience.

Works great!
The strut tool works great! I have used other strut tools in the past and the were unsafe and flimsy. This one did not slip or strip out. So far I have used it on a couple of old Volvo 240's and it has worked flawlessly. Just read the included instructions (they have good illustrations) and you should have no problems.
