Purchased two for my new NAS
How I purchase expensive or important things: First I look at everything available in the product line/range I'm interested in. Next, I look at all the professional reviews followed by owner reviews. Where applicable I look at Consumer Reports and other such resources. If it's a car purchase, now I'll take the remaining choices for a test drive (it literally takes me two or three months in purchasing a new car). This is the process I went through when looking for reliable hard drives for my new NAS. These have performed perfectly for me. The speed is excellent and what noise there is, is minimal.Great drives at a great price.

Good for my NAS
Bought it for my NAS, and it came very quick, as usual. So far so good. I had no issue with it and the noise is almost none! I hope it will last for the decent years. Otherwise, I'll update this review. Based on my experience, I'd like to recommend it to my friends.

Good Investment, does the job a tad bit loud. Good overall
Installed these on Synology DS 920+ NAS unit. I’ve been using these for about 2 weeks now. Here’s my observations,1. Files copy, read is good. Photos and videos load without stutters2. The physical drive looks like well built3. The drive noise has its own character, it can be pretty obvious at night or really silent times4. They run cool, tested them several times on different occasions

Add this to my HP Pavilion desktop with a 512Gb SSD drive for extra storage. Works great and price point was attractive ! Might add another one as an internal backup

FAKE. DO NOT BUY. GARBAGE. DOORSTOP. Error ridden after 4 months: Then inaccessible
First, if you go to the Toshiba warranty site, this model is not even recognized as valid. You will get no RMA or warranty service. Second, after 6 months, do you think I still have the static bag and stuff this thing was sent with? They won't accept a return without it. THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY PROMISE IS A SCAM. The drive was purchased due to the high reliability ratings of Toshiba. Big mistake. After 3 months began having spontaneous error checks of it on Windows 10, resulting in zeroing out of many files. Fortunately most were backed up on other Seagate drives in the system. However it has occurred with such regularity that I realized I can't trust Toshiba drives. Finally it locked out, became inaccessible. Low level and full formats and wiping did not help. Other hard drives on the system, Seagates, continue to work fine. Wiped this, dismantled it, bent the platters, and put Toshiba on the DO NOT BUY list.

A Diamond in the Rough
This enterprise-level model (MG04ACA400N) actually has 128MB Cache rather than 64MB incorrectly indicated in the product description that understated the real performance of this great product. With an enclosure and USB3 connection, the measured write speeds were about 180 MB/s on Win10 and 155 MB/s on Win7 for large file transfer, pretty close to the write performance of (non-NVMe) SSD-based USB3 that tends to overhead quickly after just tens of GB transfer. The small performance discrepancy between Win10 and Win7 is a real plus for those who need to move large files between Win7 and Win10 periodically. This is because some internal HDDs (with enclosure & USB3) and external HDDs have superior write speeds on Win10 but the performance drops sharply when they are connected to Win7 via USB3, making them unfit for moving files around between Win10 and Win7.Similar products of enterprise-level quality (i.e. with 5 years warranty) from other brands tend to be much pricier than this product, making it a diamond in the rough.

Good price
This drive was available at a great price for the 4 TB capacity. You should be aware that this drive powers down when it is not being accessed, so initial access to a file can be somewhat slow. It's also somewhat loud when it powers up.

Great drive for the price
Huge, 4TB, insane this much storage is this cheap. Did have to format as it says in the description, once done showed up works fine. Kind of slow, but I'm having transfer speed issues on my new system other than this, so not blaming the drive. Shipping was okay, less than a week, reasonable packaging, would certainly but again. Toshiba doesn't get much press but they've been making hard drives as long as anyone else and make decent drives for the money. I'd of preferred a WD Black, but this is more than half the price, was not a hard choice.
