NOT a toy!
NOT a toy! I've been playing harmonica for a couple years, and bought this on a spur of the moment impulse while ordering harps on Amazon. I didn't expect much of anything at this price. I was wrong. This blasted thing is in tune, sounds sweet and clear, and doesn't seem to loose any air! I doubt I'll try bending on this, as it's not needed. You can play in any scale, and if you're used to a diatonic, should be able to pick this up rapidly.I'm back on here for this review, and to order another as a backup - the 5th star wasn't chosen, as I have no idea how long the reeds may last even without any bent notes. If you're curious about playing a chromatic, get this.

Playable, but just barely--more toy than instrument
I suspected that this price was too low. The instrument is playable, but only with difficulty. Several reeds are out of tune. The mouthpiece strip (plastic) was loose when received and leaked air between it and the body of the instrument. Tightening the screw enough to stop the air leakage causes the chromatic slide to bind. They must be loose enough to allow the slide to operate, which means there is always an air leak. The sound is acceptable for an inexpensive harmonica, and pitches can indeed be bent more easily than I thought they might. It may respond to a break-in period of regular playing, and I'll give it that chance. On the other hand, I also ordered a discounted higher price chromatic today for a comparison. I suspect that one will win out easily.

Terrible. Just terrible.
Well, the slide works like it should, and all the notes play. But they don't play well. Half the blow notes, from note #7 (as marked on the instrument) up, are extremely weak; actually inaudible unless I blow a serious blast of air past them. And if I do that, I still don't hear much of a note, as it's drowned out by the windy noise of most of the air leaking out.And that's the main fault of this harmonica, making it damn near unplayable. It leaks like a sieve. I won't say it's the worst-leaking harmonica I've ever tried to play; most of the really inexpensive diatonic harmonicas are just awful. But I've never bought a harmonica in this price range which leaks as badly as this one. This came with a major dent in the bottom cover, at the low (i.e., left) end. The box wasn't crushed, so shipping probably isn't the culprit; it looks like it was packaged up pre-dented. But the dent probably isn't why the instrument plays so abysmally, as the lower-pitched reeds actually work, albeit not very well. The harmonica still leaks badly there, but the notes are at least audible. This harmonica has no case; just the cardboard box shown in the photo. If you want to try an inexpensive chromatic harmonica, I'd recommend the Swan 1040, a 10 hole chromatic which is very playable and quite good. (The Swan diatonics are as bad as anyone else's, and the Swan 16 hole chromatic is awful, but the 10 hole I bought is nice). It's more expensive than this one, but not outrageously more.

It is not a real chromatic harmonica
It is a shallow sound harmonica and it does not perform like we'd expected. The chromatic is only in its name, but not in performance. However, the price was low, so there are no miracles. My 4 year old is playing it now and he loves it. The harmonica serves its purpose and gets some use (and abuse that it can handle). So, we gave it 3 stars for the price and its durability.

Great entry level chromatic harmonica
It's a great entry level harmonica. I've been experiencing some trouble with the lowest and highest draw notes (the ones produced by inhaling). The problem consists in that it feels like the harmonica is being forced to produce them, in contrast the rest of the notes are produced clear and inmediately.Regarding the visuals and the body of the instrument, mine came with 2 dents on the upper plaque that cover the reeds.Nevertheless it's being fun to learn with it and experimenting the chromatic dynamics of the harmonica without spending 50+ bucks, 4 stars for that.
