Garbage!!!
This is ridiculous. It isn't even photo copied. It's like someone with no knowledge of the English language tried to type a copy of the paper book. A LOT of the botanical names are typos in the title but spelled mostly incorrectly in the text. Barring Culpepper's already old English, here is an excerpt for Marigolds:"MAEIGOLDS. These being so plentiful in every garden, are so well known that they need no description. Time.] They flower all the Summer long, and sometimes in Winter, if it be mild. Government and virtues.] It is an herb of the Sun, and under Leo. They strengthen the heart exceedingly, and are very expulsive, and little less effectual in the smallpox and measles than saffron. The juice of Marigold leaves mixed with vinegar, and any hot swellings bathed with it, instantly gives ease, and assuages it."Lavandee and Maib hair, are just a couple of the others. It would not be so annoying, but it makes it nearly impossible to look up the plant in question. Since there is no search feature, hand scrolling is easier to miss what you need when it's misspelled. There are no page breaks, so the words THE COMPLETE HERBAL and ENGLISH PHYSICIAN LARGE PRINT (you catch that? Large print for a digital copy) randomly appear in the middle of text.Who ever did this has a hard time with the letter R. It is often missing.

Don't bother
Badly drawn pictures, really old language that is not easy to translate to modern english, but still has a few bits of ancient lore to add to my REAL books of herbal knowledge. Somebody needs to translate this and get some decent pictures that actually represent the herbs.

Includes Everything, But...
Raven Starhawk Cunningham's edited rendition of the "Complete Herbal" definitely does Culpeper some justice; however, a crucial element is lacking. The "Original Epistle to the Reader" in the beginning of the book is NOT complete.Ms. Cunningham omitted a vital portion of information that is essential to Culpeper's philosophy: his original instructions on how to exactly apply these herbs (a.k.a. his theory of sympathy, which embodies the Universal Law of Polarity). Perhaps this is what's meant by the fact that this book is "edited by...", and if so, this is very disheartening. These guidelines are essential to understand if you're going to apply these herbs therapeutically. Without providing these instructions, as given in his original epistle to the reader, the reader is left clueless regarding the larger scope of this work. Hence, my 4-star rating. Other than that, all herbs are included, and the addition of more modern herbs to the compendium is a nice little treat.

Book is good at describing the plants that you find in England
Book is good at describing the plants that you find in England. Not the us. Also absolutely NO pictures showing what the plant looks like. So if you are not familiar with herbs. This will not help you

There's info in this which is not available in other herbals, but the author was poorly received in his day. It uses old language and concepts and takes some rerading.

Charming and informative
Fascinating. I found the ‘original epistle to the reader’ made me smile. I knew what I was buying but I will need to buy a illustrated book to compliment this edition. The language is very engaging.
