Adobe Photoshop CC Classroom in a Book

Love Adobe Classroom in a Books!
I really have loved my experience with Classroom in a Book from Adobe, and will recommend these for any of their products especially for beginners. They do such a great job of walking you through all the basics, not leaving out any steps which is essential for a beginner. The last thing you want is for a book or tutorial to skip small steps, assuming you should already know how to do them, and these books definitely do not skip details and how-to's. I love how they arrange chapters by different types of projects so you can read just what you need/ want, or all of it! Each time a step is needed, it tells you exactly how to perform the step so that you don't have to go back through the book to remember how something was done.

Great tutorial
Okay, I admit that I am a beginner in post processing. Now that I shoot RAW for creative purposes, I get to improve some otherwise flat looking images, turning them into fabulous. Well, I never knew any of the terminology used in Photo Shop, Corel Paint Shop Pro, and the like. Now that Adobe has made Photoshop more affordable with their simple 2 app (Ps & Lr) for $10 a month, I jumped at the chance to learn from scratch. This Classroom in a Book is a great step by step intro to all of the aspects Ps has to offer. I know longer fear playing with my photos.

Offers solid learning, but at slow pace
I would have liked to have given 3.5 stars. My comment is on the Classroom series. Not this specific Photoshop CC book, although I don't expect it to vary. My tech college class on web graphics just finished with Illustrator and now moves to Photoshop. I've had Classroom books on other apps in the past.If you are brand new to an application, the Classroom books will guide and protect. They will make absolutely sure you don't get left behind, or wander down the wrong path. The will tell you over and over not to go down the wrong paths. Repeat basics over and over. IOW, a snail would grow impatient at the pace.My vote says the series needs a much more efficient structure for presenting its information. Perhaps something like an accordion structure. The fresh content and the steps to pursue it could be always visible. If the student had a problem, they could click to bring up a review of getting started steps. If they wanted more detail, they could click to open more detail. If they've forgotten how to handle the lesson files, they could click for instructions. As it is, you will learn. But IMO you will need patience...

Makes the impossible----possible
Photoshop CC- is without doubt one of the most impossible programs in the world to master, the results amazing, getting there is like negotiating an alligator infested swamp full of quicksand. Adobe Photoshop CC, Classroom in a book, makes the arduous, difficult, impossible task of negotiating Photoshop CC REAL! Easy no, but doable. Yes it takes time, but the book presents the material in a step by step logical manner which allows a 72 year old, computer illiterate, like me to understand and accomplish this difficult task.

Typical Adobe - great product but really hard documentation.
Love the on line download feature. Love the power of Photoshop but there has to be a better way to learn how to use it. This book is not intuitive.

Precise, Detailed, Great Price
Purchased this book shortly after starting in on the Illustrator "Classroom in a Book," and I just love how thorough & detailed they are. I am using them as a newbie to Adobe CC (and taking extensive notes), but I can tell it will be a book I will revisit over and over again for reference + to learn more.

VERY Disappointing!
I would not recommend this book to anyone!!! I am highly technical, versed in both software and graphical\photographic concepts and found this book very hard to follow. My major complaint is that in most situations, this book told you what to do, but gave no explanation as to why. For example, when discussing a dialog box with 7 sliders in one of the lessons, it tells the reader exactly what settings to place each slider, but never mentioned what each slider was, why one would use it, the concept around it, etc. This kind of scenario is the rule, not the exception with this book. I found my self constantly playing with sliders, looking them up online and generally getting very frustrated. Because of this, the lessons took significantly longer than their estimates and,on several occasions, I needed to go back and repeat the lesson. I did not get much out of this book nor after reading it do I feel like I can do the things in Photoshop that I wanted to be able to do.

Great Learning Tool
I have never used Photoshop before. I have only gone through the first two chapters and learned a lot. It is so easy to learn with this book. Would highly recommend for anyone who wants to "fix" their family pictures but has no background in Photoshop.

Classroom in a book is how I got my hands wet with photoshop 15 years ago. Got this version for my wife
Classroom in a book is how I got my hands wet with photoshop 15 years ago. It gives you the basics and confidence needed to self teach yourself photoshop. My wife needed to learn for her new job, and I figured I'd get this for her, as it served me so well.

Each unit is very easy to follow and the supplied passcode for digitally downloading ...
Firstly, this is not the first product I have purchased in the 'Classroom in a book', series. I have to say, if you are new user or a relative beginner to Photoshop, this is a must have, goto book. The fact that it produced by Adobe, the creators of Photoshop, shows that the authors really do know what they are talking/writing about. The book itself is laid out in easy-to-use topics or units giving a guide to topics such as Getting to know the User Interface of the software, Layers, Basic Photo Corrections and Advanced Compositing. Each unit is very easy to follow and the supplied passcode for digitally downloading the lesson files from Peachpit Press really adds substance and reassurance to the lessons. You can really see how you are progressing and the lesson files include examples of what your finished workflow should look like. (I found this extremely useful and reassuring). One of the benefits of the Peachpit downloads is that you can check back from time-to-time and any amendments to the book or lesson files are provided free of charge, as well as the lessons being available to re-download. (Just in case you accidentally delete any).If there is one downside to this book it is that Adobe constantly update their software if you have a Photography plan via the Creative Cloud. Although this is a good thing to have new features, sometimes this can mean you may have to do a little searching to find the feature you are looking for when following the lessons. The feature will however be there and will just need finding. (The search/help feature will help here). One section that I did find difficult to follow was the 'Working with 3D Images'. This takes some getting used to and I need to return to it when I had a bit more experience of using Photoshop. This however, would certainly not put me off buying any other 'Classroom in a Book' series publications, as overall it was excellent and I felt I learnt so much from this book. I no longer feel that I am tinkering with the software but certainly feel like an intermediate user. ...this book is truly a student saviour from heavy course fees from any private institute.
This is official book from adobe for students of the sub-continent.Very simple to understand with school text book type writing for self learning.A digital features access code is also provided for accessing all lessons for downloading with updates that is of around 740 megabyte. This book also follows the same structure as other Photoshop books of old with much simple but new ideas and new contents explained to use of the new adobe Photoshop cc 2014.With lessons overview, about topics, getting started, tips and tricks, review questions and answers...this book is truly a student saviour from heavy course fees from any private institute.Study this book and directly register with adobe for your Photoshop exams. this is the best book on Photoshop cc for any new and learning student. The book size also matters, it is little square like our school book and copy in 1990-2000s..I thank Pearson in publishing this first edition but request adobe to provide a trial version of Photoshop cc and Pearson to provide the downloadable classes from their site in a CD. This will help students with slow or no internet access.

Highly Recommended - the official Adobe learning guide
If you are new to Photoshop, this is the one book you must buy. Good structure, step-by-step instruction and actual working cases. Plus it is the official learning guide from Adobe, the makers of Photoshop. Highly recommended.

Great and CLEAR instructions-- Great lesson material
I am a Graphic Designer used to working 90% of the time with Quark-x-press, so when I signed up for the full Adobe Cloud software package I needed to refresh my basic skills in Photoshop, and other Adobe programs. Great subject matter and lessons. Very clear and concise instructions, I will be purchasing more adobe cc books
