Looks cheap, but it works great!
I got my first speedy sharp as a stocking stuffer. When I got it I smiled, and thanked everybody profusely; while I thought “what cheap b@$)*% got me this dollar store reject!” Out of sheer boredom one day I decided to compare it to my Wustoff ceramic stick sharpener. Holy smokes! The speedy sharpener worked not just well, but it was amazing. It has become my go to sharpener ever since. I bought everybody I knew one for Christmas a few years later, and I could see the look on their faces that I knew so well. Unfortunately no amount of explaining could make them understand. I even demonstrated it a few times. A year later my mother was over for thanksgiving and she genuinely asked me how I kept my knives so razor sharp. I just slowly beat my head against the wall as I had given her a speedy sharp for Christmas the year before. You’ll love this sharpener, and you’ll want everybody you know to have one, but good luck convincing friends and family how amazing it is when you give them out for Christmas the next year!

Good enough for tools and the like, but there are way better methods for sharpening a knife!
Neat little tool, works fine for sharpening stubborn items like a lawnmower blade or tools around the shop. The reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 5 is because its advertised as a knife sharpener. This is probably one of the worst tools I've used to sharpen a knife. It takes a lot of work, a lot of practice, and a lot of skill. I watched countless videos trying to get the technique down and once I did my pocket knife was still no where near as sharp as when I use sharpening stones or a guided sharpening system. It's cheap enough to be handy to have around for certain things but there are much better methods (for similar and more money) for sharpening a knife. The other thing to watch out for is its easy to take off TOO much steel with this sharpener and ruin your blade.

Exceeded my expectations; always carry it with me in my backpack
Impressed by the results from the Speedy Sharp. Put an edge on some work knives at the restaurant in which I work that had been seriously abused and were quite dangerous due to their dullness. I had tried a few methods to improve their edges and failed. Speedy Sharp created a new bevel and an acceptable sharpness within 20 strokes and we can now use those knives to easily cut tomato slices without endangering ourselves. N.B.: this product will definitely take off some metal so be careful with the pressure applied with your forward strokes.

Very pleased
I am very pleased with the Speedy Sharp and I've already used it to sharpen my lopers, hand pruners and even household scissors. The videos online are very helpful although there are also instructions on the package. A fellow gardener recommended this to me and I'm so happy they did. I've always struggled with trying to get dull blades sharp again and this nifty tool makes it very easy. Bravo!

Compact carbide carving classic!
Hardcore knife nerds cringe at carbide scraper sharpening devices and for good reason, but they have their place and this one is quite good. I keep it on my keychain to always have a sharpener on me, allowing me to do quick sharpening jobs for friends or touch up a beater blade of my own on the go. It is also great for outdoor tools such as hatchets and machetes, and if you're carrying it while camping for tool maintenance, it also serves as one of the best ferro rod strikers for starting fires that I've ever used. Great price, hard worker in a small package, I say you can't go wrong.

Great tool for sharpening and other uses.
This tool consists of a carbide "blade" welded into a solid handle, coated with a non-slip plastic. It's great for sharpening (easy does it so as not to remove too much material), and can be used for other uses as well. I use it for 3D printing to trim edges of printed pieces, and remove material from grooves that have support fill in them. As sharp as it is, you need to be careful. It appears to never wear out since the carbide blade is very tough and hard material. Excellent tool to have available. Buy the original - made in USA

Great sharpener!
Great sharpener. My husband shoes horses and has to have a very sharp knife to trim the hooves. This little sharpener is the best one he has ever found to keep his hoof knife sharp. He loves it!

After successfully using it, I still can't believe this thing works!!
I used something called "the shark" sharpener (I believe it was called) that screwed up a pair of scissors and a few knives. So I've been a little gun-shy about trying anything else that looks a bit gimmicky like this. But, I was having difficulty locating someone to sharpen a number of knives, and well, what-the-hell. I'm ordering a few things anyway and this will put me over for the "$35 free shipping." A few swipes per side and that's it. Really boggling. Sharpen outside as to not get metal fragments on your carpet or anywhere in your house. You will see very small fragments on the tool and the item you're sharpening. As the instructions say "Slide sharpener from handle to point" and you do this in a relatively gentle way. You absolutely do not force it. A small amount of pressure "not force" and it will slide over the blade. I did notice on some swipes a little sticking, but I feel that may be due to my inexperience. Once I did a little more use with it, the sticking problem is slowly going away. And, I sharpened those scissors and those knives messed-up from that shark thing, and now they work surprisingly well. Good Luck!
