Beautiful Pattern
Hi - my name is Katherine and I own WAY too many stencils. (Well, my "sponsor" would have me cop to owning way too many art supplies in general, but for the purposes of this review, we'll just stick to the stencil category.) ;) This is the same quality Time Holtz, Stampers Anonymous, and Ranger are known for. The mylar stencil material is the perfect thickness - the stencil is firm, the design is fully cut out, and it's thick enough to make applying modeling paste (or other texture) very easy. It is sturdy, well as sturdy as a stencil can be that has more negative space than positive. I always have problems with the stencils made from cheap mylar - the little parts of the design (pieces that hang or stick out) always bend or allow whatever media you're working with to travel under the stencil. That doesn't happen with the Tim Holtz stencils I've used - and hasn't been an issue at all with this stencil in particular. You'll want to be much more patient and careful than I am when you clean your stencils...lest yours wind up with little bent pieces like mine do. I like this image - it can be used with light colors to form a background image, or it can be much bolder and really hold its own as the main image.Easy and quick to clean. Holds up well - the image is as clean the 92nd time as it is the first time - the plastic mylar doesn't degrade. I haven't found an art supply yet that doesn't work well with these - besides using this to add texture, I like coloring the empty space with markers or watercolor pencils, then remove the stencil and spray lightly with water. The original design is still vibrant, but (if you've chosen to use either warm OR cool colors - not both) you will get beautiful run-off colors that add dimension to your project in a way totally different than using a 3D texture). I can't imagine the stencil trend will slow down any time soon, making these a terrific investment with truly countless uses. Creating art is fun when using high quality supplies - and this fits in that category perfectly!

Great Stencil!
Had a fun time lining up two different images with the stencil. One with paint and one with ink. Turned out well.

Add the look of vintage lace to your art projects
As a mixed media artist, I am always on the lookout for new stencils. I was excited to add the Lace Layered Stencil to my collection because the design reminds me of digging through my grandmother's scrap fabric bin as a child and finding pieces of discarded lace or old doilies. I find the stencils from the Tim Holtz collection to be well made and they stand up well to applications of texture paste as well as the more traditional usage with inks and paints. I look forward to adding more stencils from this line to my collection in the future!

Pretty, but...
It's very pretty but I would not buy it again for the same reason that I usually do not buy this type of stencil. The white plastic is understandably fairly thick and rigid, however, once you have stenciled the first design, it is difficult to add to it because you cannot see through the plastic to be able to line the stencil up easily. A ruler and pencil really doesn't help because placement should be exact. Without the means of being able to actually see the first section, placing the second or third is left to guesswork and estimation along with a lot of hope.
