A Very Good Start
Adventures in Paracord does not cover a large number of topics, much of it is showing different ways to use the same braid. Since I needed to learn the actual braid itself this was just fine for me. I don't mean to imply that there is only one thing to learn here. Nicholas explains paracord construction, teaches you the basics of braiding and then shows you how to use it to construct useful things. The pictures are a little disappointing, clear enough but color and better lighting would have been nice. One thing I want to add, and it is not specific to this book, I don't really "get" the facination with "Survival Bracelets". If I have a pocket, it is much simpler and more practical to just have a piece of paracord stuffed into it than to have to disassemble a bracelet to get one. How do you decide if "this" is a big enough emergency to take your bracelet apart? Perhaps I just don't spend as much time naked in the woods as others do. I will definitely be using what I have learned in this book, Thank You Nicholas for taking the time to put it on paper so that we can learn.

Informative
The only con that I can come up with for this is the author's constant explanation of his college life. I bought this book to learn how to make things out of Paracord, not to hear about his life. That is why I can only give this a four star rating instead of a five.It is informative because the pictures are clear and the descriptions made the image even clearer. I wish it was in color, but the author makes it clear by labeling each cord either "A" or "B".The author put in a "Bonus Track" at the end of the book to show how to use Paracord to make a bowstring and a string holder for a bow. I don't shoot a bow, but it was nice to see that there was some extra effort put into the book. Also, the author dedicated the book to the reader which is a bonus. At least one author out there realizes that popularity is based on the customers.Overall, if you want to learn many uses for Paracord, this is the book to use.

A great book with good practical instruction and projects!
This book is worth every penny! As a newbie to paracord and the basic knots it helped me on a daily basis. I recommend the book and plan on purchasing the paperback, I consider it this valuable. It is for people that are inexperienced, so if you've taken classes and know the different knots, it may not help you as much. I like the author & will purchase his other e-books and if they are as valuable the paperbacks to those as well. I believe it is our duty to support young non-fiction authors. BTW, Nick, if you read the feedback on your books, my wife was glad when I got involved making these for other than family!

Knot My Favorite "How-To" Book
"Adventures in Paracord" by Nicholas Tomihama presents some good primers on the various techniques on how to make paracord into several useful and decorative items. In my humble opinion, however, there is a fatal flaw in the author's presentation - all of the photos depicting the various stages of paracord tieing and knotting are in black and white. While the author's instructions are written plainly, I found that the use of black and white photos to present the lessons did not help in understanding what the paracord project was supposed to look like during the preparation phases or the end-product. I need to be able to see precisely how moving parts are supposed to be moved to fully comprehend the stages of preparation while making any product, but the black and white photo presentations only made comprehension more difficult and frustrating. Color photos of contrasting colored paracord would have solved this dilemma. Adventures in Paracord: Survival Bracelets, Watches, Keychains, and More

Typos galore, poor Kindle images
The Kindle version of this book has problems with ligatures. Every instance of "fi..." becomes "f..." so we have things like "this fts military specifcations for ft, fnish, and a consistent weight-bearing". This results in a rather distracting read. It has also been formatted with centered text rather than a flush left margin. While this seems secondary to the actual text, it's again, distracting. And then there are the arbitrary font size changes. At the end of a section, the font size changes for the next section title. But all the following text ends up the same size as the section title for a while. This happens in the first chapter under "Finishing the Knot."Oh, and the picture of the tied cord at that point doesn't match the earlier work shown in previous pictures. It's not a big deal here since the technique is the same, but again, when you're learning a skill like this, you expect that the next step will be the next step, not something similar from another task.Lastly, and for this I should have known better, the Kindle images are difficult to see. There is, of course, no color, so the author using colored paracord to make it easier to see doesn't work very well; everything is shades of gray. Worse, the images look nice and large on my iPhone, but on an actual Kindle, some of them are quite small so I'm squinting trying to see exactly what was done. This is all before I've finished the first chapter. Still, the number of steps shown for this first project are sufficient to understand how to tie the knot (and having read a number of knot tying books, I know this isn't always the case). So I'd like to give the book two different ratings: a 4 for content and a 2 for formatting, but the Kindle version is dominated by the formatting issues.

A skill Nicholas will unravel before your eyes!
Nicholas is a very skilled Boyer (Archery Bow maker) and makes cord crafts as well. Survival skills are paramount in the wild, and when the need for more cordage arises it may be as close as the watch on your wrist thanks to this book! With this book and a good dose of patience you too can muster the skills to cover a walking stick, knife sheath in paracord. You can even make a watch band that will be the envy of other guys. When you say, 'I made it myself', they will be be impressed. Just tell 'em, Nicholas showed you how in just one of his valuable books, 'Adventures in Paracord'.

disappointed
I was really looking forward to this book but unfortunately all the information inside was in black and white, the cover was misleading.
