Gorgeous narration, annoying musical interludes
Alain Couchot has one of the most beautiful voices and diction among French narrators. I only wish he would read more books. His reading of Le Chat Noir by Edgar Allan Poe is gorgeous. I often listen to it as I go to sleep. It's like the most mellifluous music.Unfortunately, I cannot do the same with this recording because it plays nearly a full minute of music (Vivaldi?)--at a much louder volume--at the beginning and end of every single chapter! Even if I'm listening fully awake, I object to that suddenly louder and utterly pointless interruption every 9 minutes or so. It completely ruins the enjoyment of the book.

Great presentation--eminently understandable
Great presentation--eminently understandable. The prose used, however, is often quite formal; some of which might be unclear to a modern-day French speaker, but a great resource nevertheless.
