tastes good!
My wife and daughter are picky about flavors, but they both decided this was a LOT better than they had feared. In fact they liked the taste. The other fish-based omegas all taste like fish. This vegetarian option has a mild citrus flavor - quite agreeable.

My son gets this every single night. He's happy healthy and has never had any animal in his diet. I feel great about this product. Well worth the extra money.

Be Careful - horrible allergic reaction
I wanted this product to work as it has great reviews on here and on vitmainshoppe but I got a horrible allergic reaction to it. I took it for about 6 weeks and for the last 3 weeks I became dizzy and unbalanced. I talked to my doctor and he had no clue what the cause could be. It gave me horrible gas, the burbs, felt tired, dizzy all day and just out of wack, it was a weird feeling. Then one day I forgot to take the nutravege and I was not dizzy that day. So its been about 1 week since I have not taken it and I feel 100% better. So if you buy this be VERY careful as it took about 1 week to get out of my system entirely. But now that I am off it, I feel great! I suggest taking Dr Furhman's DHA / EPA instead

I sampled Ascenta NutraVege several times over a period of a few years at a local Whole Foods. I not only liked the personable company rep but found that the product itself was very palatable--light with a mild citrus flavor. Recognizing that this was "a fit," and not knowing (or really caring) a whole lot about what specifically the benefits of omega-3 were, I finally bit the bullet and bought a bottle. Interestingly enough, I noticed, in very short order, that I seemed somehow sharper--short-term memory was better (I've been under rather extreme stress for some time and hence tend to be frazzled) and other senses seemed more acute, e.g. a more discerning sense of taste and smell and, weirdly enough, less "face-blind" than usual. It was at this point I went online to determine exactly what the benefits of omega-3 were supposed to be and learned that memory improvement wasn't one of them.Weird.Well, I can only speak from my own experience. I would add as a caveat that I have a friend who tends to be of the "more is more" mentality and who, after exceeding the suggested daily intake of omega-3 (she took capsules), began losing hair. In CLUMPS. It turns out that this is not an unusual side effect so I'd caution anyone taking a supplement of this kind, either fish- or vegetable-sourced, NOT to exceed the recommended dosage. Being rather small, I cut my daily intake intake to ¾ of the recommended 1.0 ml; I use a dosage cup to measure my 0.75 ml. If I were to take the recommended amount, I'd start it on the first of the month, take it for 20 days, then discontinue it until the following 1st but that's just someone who errs on the side of caution. Regardless, I've been taking Ascenta NutraVege for several months now and am extremely pleased with it. That it seems to be beneficial for me is indisputable and I recommend trying it, especially if you're a vegetarian and having trouble finding a concentrated source (in this case, a combination of algae and Echium plantagineum seed oil) of omega-3. Highest recommendation.

Quality omega-3s for vegetarians
I've been taking a tablespoon of this everyday for the last year. It's made from algae, which DHA-rich fish eat in order to get their DHA. With NutraVege you can cut out the middleman and go to the vegetarian source. The taste is completely inoffensive and vaguely fruity, although I think the flavouring agents are rosemary and green tea extracts. Point is, whereas flax oil tastes absolutely disgusting and is full of unhelpful ALA (rather than DHA found in algae oil and fish oil), NutraVege is palatable enough that you'll actually take it.
