Product Description Reissue Of The Band'S First Album, From 1992 (On The Now-Defunkt Dr. Dream Label), This Was The One That Started It All: Covers Of Classics By The Pistols, Germs, X, Clash, Damned, Iggy, Etc Etc. Review In a world where punk rock finally seems irrevocably caught between the impulses of the anyone-can-do-it spirit and commercial success, there's always room for people who know how to celebrate the original spirit of the music. Manic Hispanic take it that one step further, though - consisting of a variety of long-serving Orange County punk rock vets of Chicano background, like the Adolescents' Steve Soto and the Cadillac Tramps' Mike Gaborno, with its debut the seven-piece act revisits a slew of US and UK slampit classics through distinctly vato lens. Dressed up in their finest fly gear on the cover photos, the members aren't out to beat down folks, though - this is pure love for the music that got them all going in the first place, with lyrics rewritten as needed, Brixton exchanged for the barrio, Broadway for Olvera Street. The recording is clear, the performances sharp, and while there aren't any surprises with the music per se, it's the (quite literally) accented vocals that make The Menudo Incident such a fun treat. Just about anybody and everybody gets the nod here - the Clash's Garage Land becomes Barrio Land, the Adolescents' Amoeba becomes Amigo, the Buzzcocks' Orgasm Addict a song named after the band itself, Pete Shelley's nerdily rapturous wail on the instrumental break replaced with ''Ay ay!'' Spanish lyric deliveries and other slight tweakings along the way - drinks, cars, slang, it's all there - helps make things all the more fun, while the nutty Medley (Rodney on the ROQ) purees six classics from the sixties and seventies into one big ol' bash. Fun bonus: the band original Poem at the end, which switches to a low-rider old soul tearjerker style musically to deliver a sweet story about an expected gangbang rumble turned into a 'drive-by smiling' - like the band's been demonstrating throughout, it's all about love, not hate. --Ned Raggett, All Music Guide

As advertised, good packaging.
The product is as advertised. Now - let's talk shipping.... I am used to getting CDs with cracked cases because the packagign sucks. This shipment was securly packaged and arrived in perfect condition. Kudos to the seller. On the other hand. Amazon and the US Postal Service conspired to make sure it took a long time to get here and without accurate tracking info - but that is their problem, and not the seller's.

Vato Punk Rock
Take the lead singer from the Cadillac Tramps, add some buddies and cover classic punk songs with a Mexican twist. There you have Manic Hispanic. This is a fun album to listen to. Covered here are songs by the Clash, the Damned, X, Black Flag and others. Jet Muchacho, East LA and Medley alone are worth the price. Hopefully they will reissue this album as it is really hard to find. Also check out their other album the Recline of Mexican Civilization, which is even better than this.

Latino Heartthrobs
Manic Hispanic does super funny spanglish/chicano tinged punk rock covers of some of the best songs ever put to vinyl. This is their first akbum and even though you will probably enjoy it, its not as good as the newer albums. mijo goes to jr. college and the recline. two things would serve you well if you want to really get this band- 1. if you are into or at least know classic punk tunes. 2 if you know any spanish at all.

Funny stuff
Laughing while playing this one in the truck. They cover songs almost better than the original artist, but with their own lyrics.
