GREAT Product!
I don't rush to write reviews, but after reading the negative reviews for this product but purchasing it anyhow, I am quick to write this review and highly recommend this product for what it claims to do. It works awesome, and lasts a LONG time. I've used this type of product for 40 years(I HATE the heat) and this current product performs like one that the material finally gave out on, on my 40 year old one. Don't know what the naysayers expect, but for 9 bucks, this is everything it needs to be. I find that 80% of ALL negative reviews, regardless of the product are simply people that will never have anything good to say about anything.

Hardly any crystals
I bought this to replace one I had bought in Az ten years ago. This one doesn’t even have hall the crystals that my old one has. Very disappointed, went to REI and got the original Kafka’s Kool Tie. $11 a piece and at least twice as many crystals.

Great Cooling Scarf
This is a pretty awesome item. It lasts a pretty good amount of time about 3 good hours with just cold water when worn around my neck. I've also worn it around my head and it feels great when you're working in the backyard on a warm day. I like the material doesn't feel cheap. There's this foamy, gel core thing sewn into the scarf that really retains the moisture to prolong the cooling. I'm definitely going to buy a couple more of these. One for indoor use and one for outdoor use and so I can cycle between different scarves. Definitely worth the money.

Challenging to get best results
I liked the idea and the look of these bandanas so much I bought several different colors for wear at a music festival in the TX heat.Pros: low cost, convenient, cute, they do coolCons: more difficult to use than expected with mixed resultsI was disappointed that the beads that make the cooling gel were not easy to evenly distribute in the bandana before wetting. The beads are so tiny you can’t really tell where they are in the sewn tube. When wet the beads swell with water to form the cooling gel. If you get it right, you’re golden!Warning if the beads aren’t well distributed before they are wet, you get big lumps of gel interspersed with empty fabric. Any attempts to redistribute the gel in the bandana made the gel ooze out of the fabric. I ended up just tying the mess onto my hydration pack as a decorative bandana.

It fooled me at first
At first, I was not impressed with paltry amount of beads inside the fabric strip in it it’s dry form. However, when I dipped it in water, it became stuffed at the corners. A little byof kneading to spread out the gel-like beads made it puffy like a sausage. My co-workers have already inquired where to get their own too. It keeps moist and cooling in the heat. Glad I keep it in my arsenal of cooling tricks.

Cool!
A friend of mine told me he was going to have to dig up his water line to find a leak. He lives in TX and the expected heat index was 110. He had never use one, so I had it delivered to his home. He was sooo happy! Now he keeps it in a jar of water in his cooler and takes it with him when he outdoor jobs.

Great Product
I bought this for my daughter who is stocking in a store in Texas and despite air conditioning, hotter than hades. This helped her get through all of the 100+ days. You do need to read the directions. This functions with some type of gel balls inside that become saturated with water. Things expand and if you leave this in water for too long or put it in the freezer for more than a minute or so, they can burst. Very happy with the purchase and definitely excellent for a product that is $10 or less.

Not a good choice
We bought 2 of these to be used on a cross-country, month-long motorcycle trip. We placed them into our cooler, when we went to get them, the blue one had broken open and contaminated the cooler with the beaded material. IT turned everything blue. This was within the first week of our trip! Our friends had theirs stored in the same cooler and were fine, but ours couldn't be used and had to be thrown away before we got to use them. Of course, since we were on a trip, we can't ask for a refund, but I would if I could.
