Read this book if there is any sort of creative dimension to your work
Both as CEO of a small consulting and training company and as a self-published author, I work with a number of creative designers (and I love them all!). I ordered "Dear Client" because Seth Godin recommended it then put it on the already large pile of books in my "good intentions" stack. I happened to glance at it while trying to get unstuck working on the content for a promotional piece for Values Coach so I picked it up in hopes of getting a small spark of inspiration. Then I couldn't put it down. Not only did it give me a BIG spark of inspiration, including a complete change of direction for the project, more important it will help me be a much better client for the designers who work so hard to make me look good. I am also going to give a copy of the book to those designers so they can help me be that better client.

The hard truth from a creative who understands the client from hell
Bought it because Seth Godin recommended it, and because I've wanted to write one like it for years. Clients are the best, and the WORST part of being a creative. I'm a ghostwriter. Some clients I'd love to throw off a bridge, others I gladly do extra for because they're so amazing. I don't know what it is about people who hire someone to do something they can't do, and then proceed to micro-manage a process they know nothing about, and blame us all along the way for things not working out. This book is the best - mainly because here's another professional who has experienced client hell, but the information, tips, suggestions she gives clients are great - IF they'll listen. Sadly, most won't, but we try! Thank you Seth for promoting great books, and Bonnie, this absolutely rocks.

Every client and every designer should read this book.
I wish I could make this a prerequisite for starting a project. I write emails to clients all the time and think that they could/would make great blog posts about what to do and not do when working with a designer or why I am asking for something or why something is or isn't in scope. This book feels like the author decided one day to put all that useful information into one easy to read guide. I enjoyed it and I think even if I can't get all my clients to actually read it, it will be a useful resource for addressing issues when they do arise as a guide to a thoughtful and succinct way to explain processes and etiquette.

Get at Least Five!
This book is simply delicious. Witty, entertaining, and packed with breathtaking brilliance. You can tell these are real insights from someone who has lived in the trenches, working with clients in the creative space. If you're an art director, consultant, copywriter, web designer, or any type of creative, you'll devour it in one sitting and give a copy to everyone you work with. (Just ordered five extra copies and am going to FedEx one to every new client!) - RG

Good Advice - Simple Read
I enjoyed the format and content in this book. The advice is great not only for clients, but how teams should interact within the agency as well. Trust and respect are at the core of the ideas - the right way to interact at work. I liked the short chapter format that allowed me to read in short bursts.

Great, concise guide to working with creatives of all types
This is a great, concise guide to working with creatives of all types. No one ever tells us how to do that, but a guide like this will make it easy, productive and less expensive. Indispensable reading!
