Kudos Karrine, you say what you like...
First of all - I agree 100%. This is not a GREAT NOVEL nor was intended to be-- it's an aspect on Karrine's life in her own words as The "Vixen" diaries. Please take the time out to look up the key word here, "Vixen". If you don't want hers words, her memories, her life, with these men according to her. Then might I suggest, you do not purchase this book.It seems the all the poor reviews all seem to have a "Why did you write this trash?"attitude. They seem to want a real explanation of "why reveal this to us? It's private stuff! You aren't well, and you are still sick... you aren't showing us you cleaned up your act and taking better care of your child!" Nevertheless, I agree with majority of the reviewers that we don't understand her actions at times but we just continue to read.Be what she said she did was wrong or right. We just listened. We feel more like you do with a very dear friend telling you some of the lowest times of her life. You listen. You don't judge them. You perhaps thank your maker that it wasn't your life, or your child, your sister, your aunt, mother... etc.. Or for some of us who can really relate because she's killing them softly with their song. Just no one knows who and how many men they had sex with for money or love or whatever, and of course they weren't between the sheet with her "famous" clientele. What this woman tells you about its very classic and yes, normal behavior with children that are victims of sexual assault/raped/molested. Keyword: Victims. (Survivors have their own personal habits and traits)This book is much like listening to a young sister who's explained that she herself recognize her game is so scrambled yet her she's dealing with addiction to what we feel is the Good life with the rich and famous. She tells your some details of sex, drugs, names of rappers, red carpet events, flashing lights, movie and video deals. She's sitting or sleeping(give or take a chapter) next to the people we all dream we could be or met. Intoxicating. Addictive ... At the same time she's so trapped in this dysfunctional circle. She talked about her fight with "her" demons to find "her" way. Like billions of others little superheads out there...Karrine tells you she fails, she gets up, she falls again, and again and again. True dysfunctional personality. So does she reveal she find the magic cure? Hell no. This girl is going through some real dark times. Yea, she gain some money but she's still self abusing herself even after losing her son for a while she's still bandied her wounds and pretending it's not that deep. She surrounding with other very dysfunctional personalities. Yea, famous as they are that's why it's a best seller. We don't know these people personally, we don't EVER see get to touch, talk, kiss them. So yes, this you would find very interesting. This is why you would buy this book.If you are looking for a self help...please, don't buy this book.. you want a hero...don't buy it... a role model, don't buy it.If you love yourself some Ray J, Bobby Brown, Method Man, Bill Maher, Chris Rock, Eric Benet, Jamie Foxx, Johnny Gil, Eddie Murphy, and host of others names she dropped as her personal friend or friend of a friend, mentors, sex partners, attending a functions she's at. Then don't buy it. You don't want to read some "private dirty" etc etc etc... Don't buy it!If you don't like reading some young woman dirty secrets, her details of her on and off again drive by dysfunctional relationships nor do you wish to read about her bad behavior when she was hurt or felt rejected.. then you don't want this kind of book.Yes, this very young woman, let some us in on a few of her worse moments in her life. Or some very sinful private sex details. She even let out the cat. not all. But I do get the feeling there is so much more is under the surface. I just can't understand if she legally can't say it...or she's saving it for "more to sell" books or she hasn't really begun to work on herself.I know many people don't like to hear what she had to say about some of the "Hip Hop" celebrities/Mega actors and NBA/NFL players. HA! I find it funny myself. Interesting, how these in "show business" people spend our money for their concerts, CDs, clothing lines, films. We got to start to care more about what's real then what's fed to us on the silver screen and ipods. Lots of people can't handle it.. and hate her for revealing that FAMOUS people are just like everyone else. Some are drug addicted, scared, broke, cheaters, freaks, gay, just plain bad husbands...They are Imperfect sinful sinners. Human just like us!!! Unlike the pics on the CD or magazine covers. I'm sorry but lots of money does not exempt you...nor make you perfect.I like Karrine's talent for being able to tell you about her openly and honestly.Be you like what she thinks or say or did... She says it , she tells you in her own way. . There it is, she gives you what you paid for... HER OWN WORDS. If you don't like them, as I said before "Don't Buy this book!"Note to Karrine:Gf, you need to set your goals as well as your priorities in order and come hell or high waters... FIGHT! Put God first, care for those that he placed you responsible for. Turn your little man into what you are looking for. Help make the world better from within. No wooden nickels here

That's it? hmm.
First off let me start by saying her writing skills have improved drastically (most likely due to a highly paid editor). Based on her first book I assumed the writing would be equally as bad.Anyway, in this book Karrine chronicles her expierences after 'Confessions' (her first book for those of you who are unaware). She discusses encounters from celebrities mentioned in her previous book and new encounters (yes, some sexual, unsuprisingly). However, Karrine defitnetly leaves many more undisclosed names in this one than the last, which is a BIG disappointment. As she says somewhere in the book, she has many secrets and will never tell all of them. As a reader I believe if you're going to choose to write a book, don't do short cuts or leave s*** out; be upfront and honest about it. I understand she owes the audience nothing, but we're the ones who put money in her pocket, so essentially she does owe the audience something - an honest, no-holds-barred book.Anybody who claims they read "The Vixen Diaries" not hoping for some juicy gossip is a lie, point blank. If that IS what you're hoping for, you will be extremely disappointed, trust me. Something else I found quite annoying is how she went on and on about herself, as if she's the scientist who found the cure for cancer, HIV/AIDS, and every other disease out there with no known cure . I'm glad that she has improved and evolved as a woman, but Jesus GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE, SHUT UP AND GET TO THE GOOD STUFF (which is limited in this book). For example she finally reveals who Papa is ('papa' is a little nickname she gave to a man in her first book but refused to reveal his identity for some odd reason). I don't know about the rest of you all, but his identity didn't shock me at all. It's purely obvious that Bill Maher is a man she truly loves (or THINKS she loves anyway), as she constantly mentions him throughout the book. The funny thing about that is, somewhere in the book she states herself that Maher is known for dating strippers, video models, women of that caliber. Interesting.I find it quite hilarious that she actually believes she became famous because of the fact that she is a "New York time's best-selling author," as she repeatedly mentions throughout the book, so much so that you will probably want to heave the book across the room. While that's all gravy, I'm unapologetically saying NO HONEY, you're famous because you wrote a book about how you sucked the life out of hundreds of men who so happen to be well-known celebrities.Let me sum this review up by saying NO, this book is not worth your $24.99 plus tax; & NO, this book is not even worth the price amazon offers. I suggest reading this at the library or borrowing from a friend.

Very Disappointed!
I want my money back! I, like many other people bought this book thinking it was going to be as juicy and telling as the first, and it wasn't. Somewhere in her head she has reached a level of success, but success of what? I felt like she used this book to validate her existence in the entertainment world and talk down about her "friends" because they didn't have the financial means she has RECENTLY acquired.Don't you hate it when someone tells you part of something but then tells you they can't tell you the rest?? That's what she did in this whole dag on book! Tell it all of shut the hell up!I also found the book redundant from the constant references to the other book and Bill. She will never shake the vixen or superhead titles because she has not changed; she is still sleeping around and it's just not cute anymore. I really was pulling for her, thinking she had turned her life around...guess Too Short was right--they CAN'T be housewives.UPDATE (OCT 13)On her website karrine.com she does a video diary and the one titled "Dear Papa" was to Method Man and his family, appologizing for the hurt caused by revealing his name publicly in the book. Seems heartfelt...I've seen A Man Apart and she's not that good of an actress so I believe it. She's vowed to never talk about it again. Guess the next book I will have to see if it is brought up in the reviews b/c I'm not giving her no more of my money.

She's after the $$, because there is nothing to write about
What a disappointment. After reading 'Video Vixen' and finding it entertaining, I had expected more of the same, but what I bought this time was a lame and boring piece of work... I'll admit I'm pretty lame myself for enjoying the first book - because let's face it, it's a slutty tell all, with a self-defeating leading character, who you can't help but feel sorry for as she seems to keep landing on her arse each time she falls in and out of 'love'.Vixen Diaries reads like a lengthy self-justification, at times from a vulnerable position, which is then flipped to Karrine indulging in name, blame, and shame with high and mighty put downs of people who have ticked her off for whatever reason. Don't be tricked by the first chapter, it did not start as it meant to go on....I think the author needs to keep in mind that it is because of her associations, and only because of her associations with the rich and famous that anyone is actually interested in her. I feel sorry for her son. It's one thing to talk about having sex, but another to go into detail about having her a*** licked in order to humiliate a married man. Again, I feel sorry for her son having to read this, it's not admirable, interesting or even cool.

The Vixen Diaries
I read Ms Steffans' seminal novel and like anyone else who read "Diary" brought this book to find out the identity of the mysterious "Papa". Whilst I found this follow-up to be mainly a re-hash of events in "Diary", a few other eye-raising stories made interesting enough reading. However, I find myself fast-forwarding unread page after page in sections where her story tended to ramble. The identity of Papa was, eventually, revealed and he was indeed on my list of 4 "possibles" that I had written after reading "Diary" - result!

Total disappointment
Dreadful! I really enjoyed her first book and was excited at the prospect of finding out how life had treated her since the fame of becoming an established author. Unfortunately this book lacks any of the juice, story telling or general flow of her first book. Instead it reads as a self-indulgent, boring description of her "emotional journey" without any of gossip of the first book. Total snooze fest.

Hmm
The books was written really well, but she seemed to babble and it really did feel like just pages in her diary. I did enjoy the read to pass the time. But from her previous work I was expecting a lot more juice.
