This is a return item 🤦🏻♂️
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I bought this and it’s the biggest piece of crap I’ve ever ordered from Amazon. What you buy is a metal paper weight. It doesn’t work as swiftly as his sped-up YouTube video shows (found under “questions”). Heck, mine doesn’t move at all even with the pin removed. It takes almost all my strength to move the claws in either direction. Forget about using it as a gravity hook — the force of gravity of Jupiter couldn’t move these claws! Don’t buy this. It’s junk. This guy probably buys them in bulk from Wish and sells them here for a price 10x what he bought them for. Look at the quality (and background) of his video as my first piece of evidence. Had I seen that this guy was hawking these things from his back yard, I never would have bought them.

It Works!
I bought this on a whim after seeing an ad for it. After using it in the woods as a grappling hook and picking things up from a tree stand I am hooked! Works great, and will be a welcome addition to my BOB. Appears to be of good quality and the included 550 cord is a bonus. I like the locking mechanism but would still use the included O-ring just in case.

Glad to know I can count on it.
This only reviewing the hook itself. I weigh 200 lbs, it held me up, I call that a win. With only two of the claws digging into the tree.Works well as the grab claw too. I’m glad to know that if I had too, I can count on it to support me.

Nicely made tool
Over the years, I have jerry rigged "grappling hooks" of a sort on the end of a rope to retrieve or snag various items. Since my wife has forbidden me from climbing onto the roof or into trees, even with a ladder, because of a back injury I finally decided to treat myself to a better tool. This one looks like it will serve my purposes well. I particularly like the locking mechanism. The finish quality is very good and the paracord plus storage bag were a nice touch.

Sturdy, beautifully constructed, fun!
This grapple hook/clamp is very impressive. I wasn’t expecting the sturdy construction and nice stainless steel quality. The clamp is loose enough not to jam up yet is still tight enough not to wobble around. The bolts are solid and well machined. The rear steel loop for the rope is thick and well constructed. Even the canvas bag it comes in is strong and thick with a thick draw string. The price is very acceptable. Needless to say I am very impressed.I don’t think I’d trust this unit for a rock climbing type endeavor, but I’m sure it can take some decent weight. This was a blast for the kids and teens as we spend three days on a lake lowering the hook down from a houseboat and collecting various items such as sticks, ropes, toys, and trash. Its a hit!

bought as a curiosity but used it quite a bit
bought this as a curiosity and because people tend to drop dumb things down the storm drain at work like keys, and ended up using it on a camping trip for retrieving firewood (literally loose limbs being pulled down by this thing) without having to stand under the tree, as well as for hanging an antenna for the campsite radio (SW/AM/FM/WX) worked great for all of the tasks i've used it for so far, and after some tinkering figured out how to use it as a gravity hook

Compact and lightweight
It was a little stiff at first but after a few uses it was better if you have two of them it works great for hanging your hammock when camping

Excellent multi-use grappling hook
Good quality little grappling hook for all kinds of outdoor usage, good for pulling a tree limb down building a snare or dead fall, pulling your food items up and out of the reach of wildlife while camping, getting a rope up and over a limb when cutting down a tree and/or even using the smaller detachable blade/hook segment as a rope/paracord tensioner, can also utilize it without the middle blade/hook to pick up items that are out of reach (think along the lines of a crane game) and these are just a small sampling of possible uses. The only real negative is in the design of the joints using fixed "rivet" style pins rather than a heavy duty Chicago screw (which would allow it to be completely dismantled and cleaned) , this makes it almost impossible to fully clean out sand, dirt, mud, blood and sawdust in the field (have to either use pressurized water or air to blow it out). As for it being in part described as a possible emergency weapon just keep in mind that with proper training almost anything can be utilized as a weapon. Overall it is a good sturdy little grappling hook with a number of different uses.
