Works as described
This was pretty essential for what I needed to do.I needed to determine the fall from the rear of guttersto the front of the house so I could run a downspoutto bring all the water back to the front to avoid itaccumulating at the back of the house with no place to drain off.

Ease of use
The inclusion of a “shut off valve” greatly aids in ease of use. Also,,,,,,Good instructions on how to do initial setup.

Works well
Well thought out product 9n that it uses a regular garden hose. The plastic caps have a tendency to pop off completely when one tries to simply uncap the flap.

Follow directions and put cap back on before moving to another location
The instructions are important for the proper operation of this water level. Having all the air out of the lower part of hose that you use and not letting water escape after you have initially filled the level system properly. You want to cap the tubes whenever you might be messing around with setup or moving to different locations. You also need to be careful that the fittings don't slip off of the clear hoses, there isn't much barbed fitting length to keep them seated well when opening and closing caps and other adjustments. The system works pretty well as long as you follow directions and watch for cautions above.

Worked like a charm!
Allowed me to level a house, where I could not even see from one end to the other.

Old school technology not so easy to use.
I bought this water level kit to help lay some drains. It's fussy to set up and when filling it, the end caps would blow out and the filling and setup process would have to start over. The accuracy is iffy at best. In the end, as much as I wanted to do the leveling old school style, I put my Bosch laser level to work and got the job done.Although the water level is pretty cheap, for shorter runs, use an ordinary carpenter's level and a long straight board. For longer runs, invest in a laser level if accuracy, ease of use, and your time are of value to you.

Plan Ahead If Working Alone
First of all, make certain that you use hoses that don’t leak. Any leakage will cause the reading from one end to the other to deviate by the time you walk between each end.I used this over a distance of 60’ with two garden hoses linked together with an 16” elevation difference. I tied one hose to a yardstick taped to the leg of a stationary bench at the highest elevation. I taped the other end to a photographer’s monopod with three protruding legs to keep it upright. Both ends must be perpendicular to the ground for an accurate measurement. I was then able to make all of the measurements by myself. Otherwise, you would need two people to hold each end upright. I added red food color to the water to help view the water level on each end. I also had to add water to the higher end as the elevation dropped by more than the 12” length of each end. In other words, make the measurements with smaller elevation differences first, as you’ll need to add water as the elevation differences increase.
