Nummyware Plastic-free Glass Food Container with Sustainable Bamboo Top (640mL)

I'm glad to have finally found a plastic-free lunch and storage container. There's not much more to say than that they work.Since it's glass, you can heat food as hot as you want and not worry about plastic melting because the edges got too hot while hot the center was still cold. I loosen the lid and leave it on top in the microwave to keep in some steam, and it still works fine, and the lid has not melted or warped as would happen with a plastic lid. It's fairly easy to find glass containers with plastic lids, but I wanted to avoid plastic entirely and this does the job. I have not had any problems with the silicone seal leaking either. The lid isn't secured super tight, but it hasn't come off unintentionally in any cases for me.It's also worth pointing out that this is borosilicate glass, which is higher quality than the glass probably every other kitchen-grade glass product in your home is made of (if you live in the U.S.), and is basically indestructible. I have not tried dropping it on a hard floor yet, but I'm pretty sure it would survive that (I've dropped much thinner borosilicate glass from higher heights in my work).The only downside is that they're heavy. They're great for a daily trip to work, but if you add them to a backpack with some other things, it starts to feel really heavy. You won't notice this if you use them just for storage, but if you have portability in mind, it might come up. I'm wondering if these can't be made thinner given that they're borosilicate?

We bought these to replace the plastic Tupperware in our home in an effort to make some changes to products that are more durable and eco-friendly. I love that these have bamboo lids and the glass is very thick. They are very easy to clean, durable and sturdy. I have 2 issues that I would caution others on.1. The lids do not sit flat on the top of the glass containers, they seal and sit INSIDE the container and take up space that could otherwise be used for storage, which is a bummer. It would be as much of an issue but....2. 3 of the 4 containers are actually pretty small. I’ve posted pictures using a container of salt for reference, the smallest container could hold maybe 8-9 chunks of pineapple or olives. It’s that small. From the smallest to largest the containers (after the lid is on) range from 1”-2-5” deep. These are cute and can hold small amount of leftovers. Keeping that in mind, if that’s what you’re looking for these are great. If you’re a person who typically has a lot of leftovers, you might be better served purchasing containers with more space. I would LOVE to see these in much larger sizes for purchase.

This is an excellent product. If you know how to CARE for bamboo. If you don't, the lids will get moldy and unusable. These lids come unstained, which is great, because all stain eventually wears off, and many stains are toxic to food.When I get brand new bamboo products, I like to go with an unfinished bamboo piece (or unstained/ no sealant). Then use food grade cutting oil for wooden cutting boards, after every use (after they dry after hand washing) for a about a week. Then, I usually reapply the cutting oil (to seal put excess moisture but to keep the bamboo properly conditioned) about once a month, maybe less maybe more depending on how much I use them and they dry out.If you properly take care of the bamboo lids, this product should last you a long, long time. Neglect them, and of course they will be subject to mold.Hope this helps and you love this product as much as i do:) such a great sustainable choice!!

The lid rocks on the glass container and doesn't seal tightly. As you can see in the photo the lid is higher on the ends and sways in the middle. I removed the seal to take the photo. This is the second time I have ordered this item. I was very pleased with the first one and is the reason I ordered the second one. I might add I did not put the lid in the dishwasher. I am past the time I can return it or I would have done so just to have it replaced. I do like this product and what it stands for ( no plastic) but now I'm going to have to seal it with plastic wrap when I use it. Any advice on how to fix this rocking lid?

Was looking for quality, see-through, no-plastic storage options. These are great. Versatile, sturdy. Easy to see what's inside. The bamboo tops fit nicely (wouldn't turn them upside down and shake, but for general use they stay well). They look beautiful. Don't take up much space since everything is stackable when full with lids on or, when storing, the different sized containers fit inside of each other / lids stacked on top. They look so nice that it's easy to go from storage/fridge to table. I don't think I'd put the lids in an oven, but easy to bake casseroles for one or two in the glass container and take straight to the table. I love these.

I purchased these because I was looking for a non-plastic food container that looked nice. The glass is very thick and durable but kind of heavy to carry around with you. I love the look of the bamboo lids but they don't suction as tightly to the glass as I would like and I need to add a rubber band to secure them when i'm carry them in my bag. Also, the bamboo tops are not dishwasher safe so it's a little inconvenient when doing dishes. Overall, I do really like these and will be buying more.

I use these every single day for work. They are the best solution for microwaving on the go. The lids are easy to clean and they dry quickly, so there is no waiting if you are in a hurry. I would still recommend packing the day prior.The lids do take a good portion of the surface area, so you won't be able to pack as much as you think into each container, but that's only because it keeps the food fresh and it will not open up during travel. I usually, use the second to largest to pack my meals. The largest is extremely big and can pack a whole lot of food, if you are willing to share.I recommend.

I love that these materials are sustainable, but I am not sure if they are completely functional. One of the tops for the glass containers does not securely close. It does not suction tightly the way the others do so we cannot use it to store certain foods.

Schalen sind bei mir aus Glas mit Holzdeckel und Gummidichtung. Gut verpackt und nichts kaputt.Nutze die Schalen für den Kühlschrank und zum Essen aufwärmen in der Mikrowelle. Bei Flüssigem bin ich etwas vorsichtig und mache die Schalen nicht bis zum Rand voll. Da die Deckel aus Holz sind und ich den Holzinnendeckel noch vor Verfärbungen schützen möchte.Der Deckel löst sich bei mir relativ leicht wenn die Schale mit Essen befüllt ist und schräg gehalten wird. Deshalb nutze ich sie ausschließlich daheim. Dafür kann ich sie absolut empfehlen.
