Black Love Is a Revolutionary ACT

Black folks need to read this book to understand how seemingly innocent elements of their lives are consciously designed to keep them from bonding with each other. This book is well written, controversial and provides references that can be verified.I was impressed with how historical and contemporary photographs and illustrations were analyzed for their impact on Black love and unity. The book analyzed the mindset behind how various news stories and reality shows are presented to "the public". The more contemporary illustrations and photographs combined with the text reveal the types of things WE SEE but DONT SEE in the media and education systems. Just one example of something SEEN but NOT SEEN is the number of sitcoms, movies, and commercials where the romantic interests of Black men are women of other races instead of Black women. The book reveals who benefits from this phenomenon especially since it does not reflect the numerical truth in the Black community.I also appreciated that the book did not just point to issues but also offered solutions.I believe we are attracted to certain books when we are ready to hear the message within them or when something within them resonates with something within us. This book is going to make some people mad but it will also open their eyes. I could definitely see discussion groups around this book!

I never really knew that much about my black history. However this book will help you have better and a deeper understanding as to why black love is slowly dying. I am not saying that black should be with there own. Love see no color or happiness. Umoja didn't just address the current issue that is at hand, he went all the way back to slavery and the psychological effects that it has cause the African American culture as a whole. There was no "sugar coating" the issue. This Author was straight up about it and the long term issues that will conutine to happen if there is no intervention or a plan to put one in place. I believe that this book along with others should be put on the African American Studies and Human Behavior book lists to further improve the education of all that are interested in why Black Americans do what they do and say what they say. Because they feel they have a right to. They do to a point, however moving forward is the best intervention to solve most if not all these problems, issues, or situations. Overall this book is a great educational tool for children at a high school level and should be read before their graduation.

I found about about Pam and her work by listening to the C.O.W.S a must for all non- white people. Its a great read that helps non-white people be less confused about how we are constantly bombarded with images of poor black relationships. I as a black male had no idea how much my love and respect for black women can go to solving this problem and I suspect based on observations many black males are confused also. Our females are terrorized by racism as much as we are and our support and love for them and first ourselves can help change our behavior. I heard DR. Welsing say if a couple's goal is fighting racism they would never split up because they are reminded daily based on their lives on why they must solve this problem. We all have made ( I made huge mistakes and poor choices) in past relationships and sometimes we look back and it really was our lack of understanding of why we were together in the first place. I can only imagine strong black families , men , women and children dedicated to ending racism - white supremacy and establishing a system of justice where no person is mistreated and the people who need the most help, get the most help. Gus T Renegade, Dr. Welsing and Mr. Neely Fuller have additional works that can help us in solving this problem.

The title says it all! Too often non-white people have been programmed by the mainstream that if you want to find love, look outside of your group. This programming works because the media is wrought with propaganda about no eligible Black males and Black women being the least desirable of all females. Not so fast! In this book, Umoja sheds light on why this insidious agenda to promote interracial relationship exist, offering an historical framework to put it all into perspective. Look, there is absolutely nothing wrong or "racist" with wanting to date within your group...it basically comes down to the laws of nature...like attracts like...usually. This book will wake up your consciousness and open your eyes to the plight of Black people on a global scale. If you are a Black person in a relationship with another Black person read this book together. Not only could it save your relationship, it's the ultimate test to discover if you are in the correct Black on Black relationship.

This is an excellent survey of African male/female relationships. A great read and very informative. There is not enough serious literature examining the relationships between Black men and women from a psychological and sociopolitical perspective. It is sorely needed for several factors. One, due to our global political-economic oppression as a group, and two, due to the existence of a plethora of books about other groups and their relationship problems. Black people are no less complicated than other groups and if others need libraries to explain their societies, then we do too. Umoja makes a valiant contribution to this essential subject.

I only wish i had discovered this book 20 years ago. Brilliant read and worth every penny

Good book, enjoyable read and really drills down on the issues that affect Black male and female relationships. This book was read as part of a reading club that I am part of and it was enjoyed by all. Would highly recommend this book.

A very important piece of literature. a must for all Africans at home and abroad to read.hard hitting and to the point.

It answered everything I have been thinking about for a while. Well worth the money. A great and interesting read.
