New Apple Time Capsule Internal Power Supply Unit 614-0412 Replacement

So I'm torn on how to write this review as the vendor is one that emailed directly and said "If you've got a problem, give us a chance to fix it before leaving a bad review..." I don't consider this a bad review but it's not necessarily a good one either. The description obviously states that this is a "new" power supply and I'm not sure it is. Based on the condition of the outer shell, it appears to be, if not used, then very poorly warehoused. The plastic cover was dirty and scratched and, though I understand that doesn't necessarily mean it's not "new" it certainly doesn't appear to be. Based on the frailty of the plastic cover (in the piece that's being replaced) I did not remove the "new" cover to examine the components. The vendor could swear that all the components are, in fact, new and I have no way of knowing whether or not that is true. HOWEVER, upon installation, the replacement power supply works PERFECTLY. As recommended by another site, I've left off the rubber mat and have turned the unit upside-down for better air flow. I will update if this power supply does not continue to perform.The other reason for the subtracting one star is the packaging. The power supply was shipped in a light cardboard box (unsealed) and then in a padded envelope. When I opened the package, I thought it rather miraculous that the P/S was undamaged given the fragile nature of the cover. I would have preferred an air-pillow or packing-peanut-filled outer box.Again, this replacement power supply works exactly as advertised. The vendor may think I'm too picky regarding these issues and that's fine by me. I know some people would have returned the package immediately after seeing its condition but I decided to give it a shot - and I'm pleased that I did.

Ten minute job and everything is back up and running as it should. The power supply fits perfectly, seems well constructed, and I had no issues at all installing it. If it lasts as long as the original, I'll be a very happy camper.

Fixed what I needed fixing, the Time Capsule works like a charm now. Great price. Great value.

I specifically ordered from this distributor because their power supply is supposed to be made by Delta electronics instead of Flextronics. Delta electronics' power supply is supposed to not have the capacitor issue that was plaguing the Apple Time Capsule that had the Flextronics power supply. The power supply seems to be new but it is falsely advertised.

Received power supply pretty quickly. Install was pretty straight forward after a Google search. Make sure you have a hair dryer or heat gun to remove rubber base on bottom of time capsule. Did a direct swap to with old unit and everything is working great! I don't use the internal HDD with the time capsule since the heat that adds is likely what killed the original power supply to begin with. Overall great product. It was a direct swap in my 1st Gen Time Capsule 500GB.

so much easier than changing the caps (which I have done, in the past). Price is competitive with recapping kits for the PSU. Leave the cover loose, run the TC upside down and place a bunch of heat sinks on the metal base. Apple: You should think outside the box with your PSU, NO REASON to put the PSU inside the case!

After three months of use it failed. Contacted the company for assistance. Was told to contact Amazon.Been working for months now. Very happy.
