Just beautiful!
This is one of the most beautiful books I've ever seen! The pictures are outstanding, and the text is well-written and informative. One thing I love is that you can pick it up and just read one page now and then (I do recommend reading the introduction first) and learn something. It's not like you have to read it all at once or have a degree in Korean history or art to enjoy it. It makes for an especially nice gift for those who appreciate Korean and/or Asian handicrafts, handicrafts in general or Korean history.I met the ladies who wrote this, and they gave a terrific presentation. Their personal stories of why they decided to write the book are very moving, and I applaud them for putting together such a legacy for their children and really- for all of us.If you happen to live in Seoul, you can also purchase this book at Eden Pottery in Itaewon. When I have ordered it online, it arrived in good time.

100 Thimbles in a Box: The Spirit and Beauty of Korean Handicrafts
This book is unusually beautiful. The photography and layout rivals the best of National Geographic. The descriptions and explanations are in my view a step above that! I believe the book would make a unique gift for friends and relatives who enjoy handicrafts or are fascinated by crafts of other cultures or appreciate the beauty of handiwork too little seen these days.I believe this book should be added to the featured collections of public libraries and museum shops around the country.

A gorgeous book to keep forever
I'm heading to Korea in a couple of months and this book has inspired my shopping when I get there. Even if I wasn't going, the photos are so gorgeous and it is so beautifully laid out. I pretty much have only looked at the pictures so far but for that alone, it is worth it. But I did read the story about the thimbles 'cuz I was curious. This is a lovely book and a lot of thought was put into it.

"pretty pics"
It's a beautifully photographed overview of some of the highlights of Korean traditional crafts. Not a deep in depth analysis but a visually and aesthetically pleasing start off point.

I am just delighted that this work is part of my collection
As a returned Peace Corps Volunteer from South Korea, I was "blown out of the water" as I went through this book. What a sensitivity to the beauty of the Korean culture. I am just delighted that this work is part of my collection. Often I could not even imagine where many of the pictures came from or the detail of the information. THIS IS A MUST BOOK for Korean lovers. I wish I had it before I went to Korea; am delighted to have it to bring back memories; and am glad to learn so much from it.

Sumptuous
The word for "100 Thimbles in a Box" is "sumptuous." Like the Korean arts and crafts it celebrates, the book itself is a thing of beauty, full of color and meaning, thoughtfully and skillfully designed. The authors' passion for their subject comes through in every detail. With an engaging and knowledgeable text and beautiful photos, "100 Thimbles in a Box" is a superb introduction to the richness of Korean arts and crafts, which have a unique story and esthetic identity quite distinct from those of neighboring China or Japan. The first time through, I couldn't wait to take in every page; now I look forward to savoring it again and again, slowly. I plan to give copies to my daughters' school and to friends and family. Give _yourself_ a special gift: turn off your cellphone and your computer, and curl up in a comfortable chair with this gorgeous book!
