Difficult for one person to install alone.
This is a nice item; it's sturdy, attractive, and (once it's installed) the width is easily adjusted by use of the extension bars. The posts are a heavy metal and there are very firm clamps on every joint. This thing worked so well that I drove almost five hours with my daughter's pit mix in the back of my Kia Soul, and I guess one test of the barricade was enough to keep her in the back easily -- otherwise she's determined to help drive!Negative: The horizontal bars adjust up and down very stiffly, but I guess (maybe?) that's a good thing since it won't move around, but there are also strong clamps that would manage if it was looser. Adjusting the width of the vertical bars is also difficult; you almost need to measure where you want them before you start. I suppose maybe these issues are a good part of what makes them sturdy, though.I've never really been a fan of tension mounts against the roof of my car (especially since I'd only had my brand new car for a month!) but the large pressure pads on the top of the uprights didn't do any damage, even to light tan fabric. Once we were FINALLY able to extend/wedge the legs completely the bottom feet also did a good job.The horizontal extension bars (Tombigbee sides haha!) are a great idea! I was able to expand the reach of the gate enough that there was full coverage from one window to the other. Yay!Overall I'm happy. I just wish it was easier to assemble by myself; getting any of the poles into the brackets was extremely difficult due to how tightly they fit, and when it came time for placement I absolutely could NOT do it alone!!!(If it factors into physical ability vs assembly, I'm 5'4, female, 50 years old. Other demographics may find it easier.)

Check for broken/defective pieces
Received just in time for family trip but with a defective part, did not have time to wait for a replacement and the defective part has a secondary adjuster (bottom legs) so installed it anyway.Easy to put together and install, held up to our 100lb shephard/husky trying to shove his way around it. He got his head around one of the side extenders but only because I didn't check to make sure the tightening bolt was all the way tightened. The first defect was an improperly molded plastic grip for tightening the side bolt for the sliding leg. It came broken off and upon inspection you can tell it wasn't fully molded like the one on the other side. The second defect was the same tightening bolt itself would not tighten the leg. Its threads weren't stripped, you could tighten it until it got to the leg but once it got there the threads on the plastic casing that holds the bolt would not hold any pressure and could not get the bolt tight against the leg.Luckily the legs also have a bottom extender that gave us the height it needed to make up for the fully retracted, unusable leg slider.Overall for the price this is a great product and would recommend to others but make sure you look everything over before installing.Would have given 5 stars had a gotten a complete working product.

Great pet barrier
Great pet barrier. Pretty easy to assemble & install (to get enough pressure to hold when putting in the vehicle you really do need another person to help get it tight enough). I made a misjudgment about the size of one of my dog’s heads and thought I had the lower bar far enough down so I locked it in place before loading our two dogs. My 40 lb dog could easily get his head though and I didn’t want to mess with trying to unlock the bar to fix it, so I tweaked it with some grid shelving pieces and zip ties….. good to go after that. Made an all-day trip, barrier did it’s job.

A safer, better alternative for your Subaru
I got this after finding that my back door opened randomly and of its own accord. This is sturdy enough to stay put and organize the back. I like how you can set it anywhere in the back and section off to your choosing. It’s an attractive design too. After having my door open again this past week I would have lost everything in the back if it wasn’t for this! I like the looks and proven value in my life.

OK, but has some flaws. but works.
We got this to be able to keep dogs separated in the car while traveling. The bars are too far apart to keep a dog from poking their head through, but we knew that. The reason I gave it just 3 stars is because the locks to keep the bars from sliding up and down are useless. Even if the didn't pop out on their own, I'd have used something to make sure a dog couldn't move them. Cheap electrical ties locked them into place. With the design of my 2006 Trail Blazer, I could help place the barrier where it couldn't shift forward or backward, in the middle of my vehicle. I read all of the reviews and knew what I was getting, so I'm not disappointed. It still worked like we needed it to.UPDATE: Since no one else makes anything better, I got a second one to add bars to the original one so there was less space between all of the bars. This worked great for us and keeping dogs separated. I still had to lock the locks, but they stayed in place.

It's okay
For the price I can appreciate this product. It was really hard to put together, takes a lot of elbow grease. It's also not the most sturdy resting on plastic. We had to put some towels under it to keep it from sliding around against the plastic/rubber floor mat. It does it's job and I'm not complaining. I have noticed a bit of a rattle when driving but I think it's fixable.

Will ruin your roof liner!
This product achieved keeping our dog away from the rest of the car at the cost of our roof liner getting ruined. The amount of pressure it required in order to stay put and not fall on our dog is just simply too much. We have a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe. We used it with the backseats folded down.

Good value for money
Easy to install. Could be a bit flimsy if you have a boisterous dog, but we have a gentle Saint Bernard and it keeps the drool in the back of the vehicle 😃

Works as a trunk divider too!
Normally this would be installed behind the back seats so dogs don't climb over the seat, but I installed it perpendicular so that I can separate my rambunctious pup from my senior dog.Installation was pretty straightforward. Because of the way I installed it, it took a but more time and required more adjustments (e.g. the suction cup was put on the floor instead of the ceiling so that I could move the rails lower to the ground).Once installed, it's very sturdy. I will likely have to keep the pup tethered to her side so she doesn't try to climb over the seat, but at least my senior doggie cannot be bothered too much while sharing the trunk. One thing to note is that it won't fit this way in many SUV trunks. I first tried it in the back of our Hyundai santa Fe, and the trunk was too short and too shallow. It fit nicely in the Honda CRV trunk though. In both cars it would have fit if installed in the standard position.
