I enjoyed reading this short story until I came to the end. It had a very abrupt ending. The story would have been much more enjoyable if the author had taken the time to develop the ending. Instead of telling the ending in two sentences - do it in two more chapters.

After a divorce Angela returns home to help her family with their lumber business. Wanting to be left alone she doesn't react too nicely at being hit upon. When the man turns up dead she feels like it is her duty to help investigate. Good clean reading.

Yes, I know it was a short story but the writing was good and I felt I was just getting into it and then it was The End. Maybe the author will revisit these characters and write a longer mystery. I appreciate the clean read!!

Sorry but having read a lot of the author's work, I was left feeling disappointed in this one. The ending was really poor and left some unanswered questions. Returning home to her family's logging business after her divorce, she is slowly getting her bearings. However when a dead logger is found she feels guilty. Was it because she spurned his attempt to date her or was there more to it than that. The characters just seemed slightly "off" and the ending left a lot to be desired. Not something I would recommend.

The author was able to put in a murder mystery into this short story that was interesting, tricky to figure out and enjoyable to read.

Well planned out and well written, but it"s a bit of a lightweight. If you are looking for a fun bit of fluff, to kill an hour, this will be an enjoyable read.

In March I discovered P Bodi short cozy mysteries and I am really excited that I did. These are very well written cozy short mysteries that you can truly read while watching tv or on a break at work. This book Forest for the Trees, I enjoyed because the main character was easy to relate to and had a grittiness about her I liked. It was not a lack of confidence but a sense of purpose she had that I liked and related too. I think I would really enjoy reading others in this series. A great cozy mystery short.
