Breville VST070 Sandwich Toaster, 850 W, Grey and Textured Stainless Steel

Reading reviews of all sandwich toasters made it so hard to actually buy one. There were lots of complaints that they’re not deep enough fill, created mess, hard to clean, not hot enough, takes too long to heat or doesn’t actually toast the bread etc.I settled on this one in the end for the ceramic plates. I bought this for my son and we’ve had a lot of fun making different sandwiches for the family.This one has plenty of room for filling, and had never spilled cheese out everywhere - I do think this however is very much to do with the operator not the machine! Don’t overfill.It gets hot quickly and toasts well, there are two heat settings and of course the amount of time you leave it in there.Provided you haven’t created a cheese explosion it is really easy to clean with dishwasher safe removal ceramic plates.Love it!

My husband has the panini toaster but they just aren’t the same as the good old toasters, so decided to go with this one I liked the fact that at a press of a button the plates remove for easy cleaning, but unfortunately like other reviewers have said the contents do run under the plates causing a huge mess, contents spill from the sides of the toaster also. Nope i am not over filling with ingredients I wouldn’t say it’s a extra deep fill either, as for the size of the bread I usually buy Iceland’s white sliced bread (cheap one) and this is just an average size slice which struggles to fit in this toaster shame really with all the cons mentioned as the toasties when cooked do taste delicious.

Does what it says on the box toasts sandwich’s really quick and really nice. Great value for your money. I also brought the book toastie heaven to go with it. Lovely

Arrived promptly - looks fab in the kitchen in grey and steel (MUCH nicer than the black equivalent) beautifully made and solid - heats up well - plates clean really easily (they come out completely - but easy to wipe down) and is a simple joy to use! Will Enjoy easy hot lunches now. It's the perfect depth for a toastie - worth spending a little extra - will help me get through these long winter lunches! :)

I have had a cheaper version of this Sandwich toaster before which had the black non stick plates.That worked quite well but this is even better and worth paying the extra.The ceramic plates are a breeze to clean after use and you just press a button on the side to release them.This model has two heat settings; one being a lower heat setting for sweet fillings and the higher setting for, example, toasties.The outside is a smart grey in smooth and textured stainless steel and there is a clear indicator on the top for telling when the toaster is hot enough.A problem I have found with both of these sandwich toaster is that no matter how careful I am with the cheese in the sandwich, some always bubbles out and down the back of the toaster.Although it is well sealed its possible for the melted fat from the cheese to find its way down the cable and inside.Knowing that from the first toaster I placed some kitchen paper at the back over the wire, to catch any spills and runs.I also found closing the lid when the sandwiches are inside is a little tricky. The thickness of the sandwich has to be compressed and the clasp to close the handle is a little awkward. Especially as buy this time the toaster is very hot.Despite these issues I would buy this againGood Value and Recommended

Definitely worth the extra outlay for a toastie maker. We have had several cheap ones that haven't lasted. This one will I think. Its sturdy and solid. The removable plates are easy to pop in and out, and a breeze to clean. It tucks away nice and tidily too! Highly recommended

Delayed review of this until used several times. Very pleased, a solid well made toaster, easy to use, makes excellent sandwiches, and the ceramic coated cooking plates are a must as they clean easily.

Brilliant toaster. Obviously toasts the bread as expected but the removable plates prove the difference. Only slight issue is that runny/greasy/oily foods can seep into the body - an issue with all toasters I expect.

We were looking for a non-teflon sandwhich toaster and this one fit the bill. We’ve used it every day and its worked flawlessly. It’s duraceramic non-stick works well and seems much stronger than teflon. If it ever dies we’ll buy another in a heart beat. Please never stop making duraceramic products Breville!

A great toaster with removable plates is a must. Easy to clean with a toothbrush, don't use a sponge. Hope next version there will be a switch for 1 side sandwich or 2 sides sandwich cooking and fewer gaps for easier to clean.

Got scratched by pumpkin seeds from my bread the first time I used.
