Not very soft, bleeds a lot of dye
Upon receiving this, I immediately wanted to wash it to see if it would help soften up the fabric, as it's not soft and it's quite stiff; however, the wash instructions on the tag say hand wash this 100% cotton piece (and also to keep it away from fire). I'm debating throwing it in the wash on delicate cycle despite tag instructions to see if it will soften up, and will update if I do try it--I intend to use a lingerie bag or a pillowcase to help protect the beading, in that case. If it survives a wash, I'd add a star--I don't hand wash anything, and being something to wear at the beach, I imagine it needing at least the occasional refresh.Concerned about dye bleeding, I soaked it in a bucket of cold water for a several hours. The amount of dye released was significant. The water turned indigo and dye transferred to white parts of the piece. Luckily, it still looks OK (provided you're OK with not matching the product photos precisely). I'm not confident that it would yet be safe to wear over a light-colored wet swimming suit, as I anticipate there will be dye transfer onto the suit, so if I don't try to delicate machine wash this, I will do another cold water soak (or two!).I think a practicality flaw of the design is putting the beaded work on all 4 corners, which makes it hard to tie together. The beaded design is lovely and does make it not matter what side is up with all corners beaded, but I fear tying at the bead points will result in damage to the beads. As tied in the product photo, there is ample fabric to tie without beads being in the knot, so as long as you would be careful threading the beaded corners through the knot, it should be fine there.I had planned to wear it in a halter tie, but it requires tying at the beads for my size. This piece would not be big enough for someone much bigger than me to tie like a halter at all (I generally wear a 4/6 in women's clothing and a 28D/E UK or 32C US bra size). So if you have that usage in mind, you'll probably have to be in the x-small to medium women's clothing range.I haven't had a chance to wear this at the beach yet (it's been so cold and rainy) so I can't confirm from experience whether this is an overall good choice. The fabric is nice and light and feels suitable for just covering up on a hot summer day without making you overheat.Update: I washed in the washing machine with cold water and my regular detergent and hung dry, and the piece survived. I don't see any damage to the beadwork. I attempted to wash with only darks and synthetics but unfortunately two socks (not even a pair) snuck in and are now blue-stained. So I can say for sure that it takes *at least* a couple of washes to make this safe to wash without sorting.

Good for more than a cover up
This Indigo Paisley Lola Tie Dye Women's 100% Cotton Beach Sarong Cover Up Wrap is beautiful and good for more than just a cover up.It's made of a loose, coarse, weave, 100% cotton, dobby, gauze that is somewhat sheer. The care label says to hand wash separately (because it will bleed) and dry flat. This is a large (42” x 78") rectangle with a narrow, turned, hem on all, four sides. It is tie dyed with a wide, solid, border. Most unique is the hand beaded fringe at all four corners. The beading is beautiful and adds something special to this.Of course, it's wonderful as a swimsuit cover up but once I saw how lovely these are, I decided to use them as valances over a curtain rod and they look incredible! Very boho. It would also be perfect as a shawl or wrap over a slip dress or other, summer, clothing.I got the blue and the yellow green colors. The blue is a true indigo color and the yellow green is closer to a chartreuse color. Both are beautiful.Because they bleed copiously, I suggest soaking in cold water with white vinegar initially, to set the dyes.As others have mentioned, this is not a soft gauze but it's not scratchy, either. It has a marvelous, hand woven, look and feel.

I love this for the beach.
I'm really excited about this beach sarong. I think the colors are so pretty and the beads around the edges make it look more expensive. They are really pretty. I think my favorite part is that you can wear this sarong as a cover up to the beach and then it also works as a beach blanket once you get there. I love having a pretty beach blanket to sit on and I know that I'll use this a ton because it's so convenient that it works for both. There are lots of ways to tie it. I looked up a video and found it helpful. My one problem (like other reviewers have mentioned) is that the fabric is a little stiff for my taste. I don't think it's super comfortable against my skin. However, I am hopeful that over time it will soften up a little bit with all the use it's going to get. Overall I would recommend it if you also like to carry the least amount of stuff with you to the beach.

Boho chic
I love tie die. This is a big rectangle of tie die on sheer fabric with some beaded details at the corners. It will be fabulous as a swimsuit cover-up, either tied at the waist like a skirt (to hide my hips), or draped like a shawl (to shield sunburned shoulders). Some may like the beads, but to me they just get in the way. They weigh down such a lightweight fabric and get in the way when I try to tie the corners or tuck the ends. I see these for sale at beach resorts when I'm on vacation but its so much easier (and cheaper) to buy one ahead of time . I'd rather spend my vacation enjoying the beach than shopping for beachwear!

Vibrant Color
This is a really cute sarong for the beach. The tie dye fabric isn’t overwhelming and adds a fun touch to your look, especially if your swimsuit is very basic. Fabric is rougher than I thought, they call it a soft textured cotton gauze but I found nothing soft about it. Possibly after a wash it should soften up. Its pretty large so almost any size should be able to wrap it around their waist or as a quick halter top dress. There is also a fun touch of beading on the edges, while I like it I do wonder how it will hold up over time. Through washes, time at the beach, I can see some of the beads falling off or possibly getting caught in something.

coarse but cute
This rectangular wrap is super cute (as pictured), with a soft fade between the blue and white and a cute beaded edge. I assume the edge will gradually break off over time, but will probably last a year or so before that starts to happen. The fabric itself is a very coarse linen--not soft on your skin and not tight enough to be sandproof, but it gets the job done and will probably last a year or so before becoming overly worn. You may also want to do a web search for techniques for tying this on, since it's just a big rectangle with zero instructions. Hand wash only (and I'd expect it to wear quickly)
