Coconut Lagoon: Recipes from a South Indian Kitchen

I absolutely adore Indian food and Kerala food is a perennial favorite. This book does NOT disappoint. Clear instructions and amazing flavors. The cost of the book is worth it just for the Thrissur-Style Salmon Curry recipe alone. Kerala Beef Fry, Baby Eggplant Masala, Chickpea Curry ... the list goes on and on.If you love the beautiful flavors of Kerala you should get this book. You will be glad you did.

We ate at Thali and loved the food, and my husband bought this at the restaurant. I have made several of the recipes and they all turned out well. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. It helps to have access to an Indian market, as ingredients like chaat masala and fresh curry leaves are required for some recipes. I highly recommend this book!

I though since this book was written in Canada it would loose its Indian authenticity. How wrong I was. It has pleasantly surprised me. It’s a wonderful book with authentic and tasteful recipes. I am so looking forward to cooking from here.

Excellent book with some unique receipes

Coconut Lagoon by the award winning chef Joe Thottingal is an excellent book with fantastic recipes from Kerala, well illustrated with color photographs and step by step instructions to prepare various dishes including fish, poultry, beef, mutton, eggs and vegetarian dishes as well as how to prepare condiments and the famous mango pickles. Large format paperback, 192 pages, published in 2019 in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Every recipe we have made was delicious. We enjoyed the stories as well. We have been giving copies to our friends because this book is worth owning.

Amazing. Best cookbook I own. Clear directions, no BS. Worth every penny.
