Co (BN) 5/Bajra or Cumbu Napier hybrid grass is a perennial/multi-cut green fodder. It’s one of the widely cultivated fodder grasses because of high tive value. It’s an Inter specific hybrid between Elephant grass (FD 437) and Bajra grass (IP 20594). Recently released (2012) by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. Its expose 400-430 number of leaves/, leaf length is 110-110 cm and height is 8-10 feet’s in general. It produces more tillers/branches with soft and juicy stem, free from pest and diseases and non-lodging. It can be cultivated throughout the year under irrigated conditions. Crude protein ranges from 14-15 % and Dry matter is 22 %. Plough 2-3 times to obtain a good tilth and form ridges and furrows, the spacing recommended and adopted for 60x50 cm, requires for 11500 slip/acre. Irrigate through the furrows and one rooted slip/stem cutting per hill/one side of ridge. Immediately after ing, give life irrigation on the third day and thereafter once in 10 days. First harvest is to be done on 75 to 80 days after ing and subsequent harvests at intervals of 45 days. Quick re-generation capacity and low leaf blade.
