Digital Thermometer - 8" Probe Instant Read, Fast and Accurate Meat, Candy, Brewing and Milk Thermometer

I'm a big tea drinker, but have always had some trouble bringing the water to the right temperature. Black teas are easy; you just bring it to the boiling point. Oolong, green, and white teas, however, need hot water below the boiling point. I've used typical meat thermometers, but it doesn't work because they have such short probes. You have to use tongs to stick the thermometer into the kettle (electric or otherwise), or you get your hands burnt by the steam.I thought about getting an electric kettle with a thermometer built in, but it's so darn expensive that I couldn't justify the cost. So, I looked into getting a thermometer with a long probe, which is much cheaper. This one is perfect. It's a little longer than it has to be to fit into the kettle, but that's fine. I fill the kettle and stick in the thermometer, then wait till the water is steaming and turn the thermometer on. The temperature displays immediately, and I turn off the kettle when the target temperature is reached (in the case of white tea, 185 F). Sometimes I forget to turn the thermometer off, but that's fine because it automatically shuts off so the battery power isn't wasted.On the whole, I'm satisfied with the thermometer, at least for my limited purposes.

Came super quickly! Haven't used it yet, but I am excited to use it. I'm planning on using it for brewing beer. I realize that's irrelevant in a product review, but the simple truth is.. I don't really know how it works. I can tell you this: it looks like it works. And that's good enough for me at this point...In closing, I'm a satisfied but ignorant customer.

I am a home brewer and must have accurate repeatable temperature readings. I compaired the product to an infrared calibrated digital meter and the lows and highs were not close. Would not recomend this product if you must have accuracy. Then stopped working 2 weeks after warrenty.

I have not actually used this thermometer I just received. But I ordered it because my sister, a great cook, brought one to my house to use when she cooked Christmas dinner. She thinks it is great and that I should have one in my kitchen. So now I have one based on her claim that it isthe best one around.:-D

Love the thermometer! I have a shorter Polder Digital Thermometer. This Cambridge let's me check my Traeger Smoker and CharBroil items without getting my fingers burnt. Plus the display is large enough so I don't have to get my glasses.Great product!

Absolutely love these thermometers. I have two of them and use them for candle making. I am going to order two more for baking meats and when I start homemade soap making I'll be ordering two more. I don't like mixing my candle making utensils with my food utensils and will be keeping the soap ones as well separate.That's why I'm ordering so many. I'm ordering in twos just in case by chance one goes out I can grab the other since the proper temperature in candle and soap making is so critical. Also they arrived in only 2 days. I'm very impressed!!

I am a gluten free cook and needed a reliable thermometer for making bread. This thermometer did the trick! Easy to use, easy to read, and long enough for the fluffy full loaves I make. Great price, fast service.

I like this thermometer. It's fast, accurate and just the right length for my cheese making pot. I wish they had included a pot clip but I stole one off another thermometer.
