Great complete trim kit for my Moen 1222 shower valve
I updated my shower and needed new trim pieces. This kit comes with everything you need for the valve. it even includes a handle replacement to update the old clear crystal handle to a more modern black handle. The kit is plastic not metal however you can't see that when it is installed and it seems to be very well made. I love the new look

This was perfect and very happy this worked out
This was perfect and very happy this worked out! I have an older home with a "Push and Pull" type plumbing system. Bought a kit at Lowes only to find out all those styles don't work for what I had, unless I replaced the guts of my plumbing inside my wall and tiles. No way did I want to take that on. Lowes also only sold the plastic-glass type sets for this system. So I was stuck until I found this and the color I needed. It worked great and easy to do. It has 3 types of Hole patterns which were huge and allows lots of flexibility for install to line up with what's in your wall. The fancy knob was awesome so I didn't have to use the glass knob. You can rotate everything to make it all work. The directions were just a bit tricky, but spend the 10 min. to read them and it's a breeze. The main reason they were tricky is for all the different variations and parts, which is great in all reality. Just get the parts and steps for what option you choose and it's no problem. The bronze color was great looking, lots of high end parts, options, and I thought pretty durable. Everything fit nicely and it seems built to last.NOTE: Other reviews said how uneven this was against the wall - Could be, but in most cases shouldn't be.I ran into this at first, but quickly realized this: On the back side of the main plate, there is a smaller outer circle that sticks out further then the main plate. (Size of the handle area shown in the pick) This is meant to go INSIDE the wall. I had to chip out a little bit of tile so that it could do that. Once that part sits into the wall, then the main plate is perfectly flush. I didn't even have to use caulking it's so flush. If you do not have a hole in your tile around the plumbing, then this could give you some issues. You will need about a 3-4" hole in your tile where the plumbing is. I luckily had this. But, I would have had to rip a much bigger hole to try and replace the inner plumbing joints with the new style faucets at Lowes. I felt it was extremely universal and it was an easy install.Great product. Thanks

An old Moen and you like brushed nickel?, here is where you'll inevidbly end up...
Have used these multiple times, of course seems a bit pricey for plastic when anything other than nickel in metal costs less. Moen apparently has a thing for this too as any older official Moen capable trim set in nickel will be $250-300. It's plastic, it works. If you don't beat up on it you'll be fine. I'm sure everyone wishes this was $35, but it's the same price EVERYWHERE. Regardless of the 'basic' materials you'll get it done without another trip looking for a bit-it's quite comprehensive. I've done multiples of these and end up with the crystal knob every time(older conversions always seem to leave the lever looking a bit too far out), so I can't comment on the durability issues I see with the lever. But if you've already made three empty handed trips and spent more than an hour online looking for something 'else', you pretty much made up the silly price surcharge on these.

If you have a Moen Moentrol valve and trim, this is your answer
If you have a Moen Moentrol valve and trim, which has been discontinued by Moen, this trim set will allow you to change your trim without the major work of replacing the valve.I was updating all my fixtures in the bathroom to black. I could find everything I needed except the shower valve trim. After several calls to Moen and other shower trim providers, this Danco black shower trim was the only option available, even on ebay. There were still a few Moentrol trim sets available in other finishes but not in flat black. The handle wasn't the design I was looking for and because of the shape of the handle, it's a little difficult to pull out the handle on a Moen Moentrol valve. That is why Moen shaped the Moentrol handle in a tee shape, since you pull out a Moentrol valve to turn on the water. After seeing that Danco previously updated this trim because of user comments, I'd be surprised if they don't offer additional handle options for the pull out Moentrol valve within a few months.Anyhow, the installation was a breeze and very easy to follow. They even have a video guide, a bit over the top, but for those who have never replaced a trim set, I'd bet it was really appreciated.I'm glad Danco provided this trim set, otherwise I would have had to remove a portion of the back wall to get access to replace the valve. That would have been a day's job instead of a few minutes, thanks Danco.

DANCO NEEDS QUALITY CONTROL
I ordered 2 sets, 1 for each bathroom that I was redoing. The oil rubbed bronze finish is very nice and the single handle shower unit performs very well. However, there is a round, silver metal ,collar that gets screwed into the shower hot and cold cartridge. The purpose of this round, silver metal, collar in addition to turning on your hot and cold water, is to attach it to the bronze, single handle. The metal collar is supposed to have a threaded hole for an allen screw. All of the silver metal collars had a hole, only, NO THREADS IN THE HOLE, and the hole was too big for the allen screw , supplied, ON BOTH SETS THAT I PURCHASED. since I had all the old fixtures off and was too far into the job, rather than send the sets back, I had 2 alternatives either buy a tap and die kit or use some ingenuity and make a blind nut to put the handle on. I chose to make a blind nut which came out perfect. If the collars were threaded properly at the factory and the allen screws were the proper size I would have given this purchase 5 stars. This is not a take off the old fixtures and screw the new fixtures on, if your not handy, this product is not for you, it made an easy job harder and more time consuming..

Worth it for anyone stuck with a Moentrol valve
I wouldn't normally review a product like this, but other reviews saved me a lot of time when researching the subject. I had a leak from my bathroom shower. I managed to remove the old Moen plate and knob handle to see that I had the Moentrol valve (the one before the PosiTemp). I also needed to replace the shower head and decided to update all with matte black. Turns out that this Danco set is literally one of the only viable options on the market for this valve in matte black. An important note: a few reviewers mentioned the handle being loose and wiggly, and after installing, I had the same thing. I was disappointed, but tried one last thing: I took it apart and bought a new cartridge (Moen 1225, $40CAD at Home Depot) and reinstalled. It's now perfect. The handle slides in and out with zero resistance and turns seamlessly. The escutcheon is plastic, but the overall look is exceptional and clean. Don't scratch the handle or over-work the black screws, as the imperfections will show. Otherwise, this was a perfect solution to avoid opening up the wall and replacing the old plumbing.

Fits a Moen 1225
This kit was recommended to me by a local plumber. It arrived, the plumber went to install it, but was stopped by the unusual configuration of my 23-year-old trim and handle. He figured he would have to replace the entire valve, if I wanted the job done.My old valve was a Moentrol one-handle 1125 valves, but I could find no references online to my particular model.I had arranged to return this kit, but decided to have a go at seeing what I could accomplish on my own.Through a combination of youtube tutorials and careful disassembly of the installed unit, I was able to figure things out. This kit does not mention the Moentrol 1225 valves as compatible, but forums and my own experience prove otherwise. They work fine for a 1225 valve. The install process is quick and painless. The instructions are comprehensive, but you'll need reading glasses to be able to read the small print. Two tips:I. You can hardly see them, but the face plate has markings for (H)oy and (C)old. Make sure you install face plate insert -- the piece with the holes for the screws -- the correct way. If you don't, the markings will be upsided down and reversed.2. The plastic tabs for the face plate inserts easily pop out when you are trying to tighten the whole assembly against the wall. I dabbed a dollap of white glue on them to make sure they stay in place. My only real complaint is that this kit is pricey for the material. Everything except for the handle and the screws is plastic... It doesn't even feel like a particular solid plastic either. Will it get brittle with age, I wonder?Anyway, I've cancelled my return and am satisfied with this purchase.
