Useful product... if you hold your mouth right during installation
I wanted a cheap lock to allow key-less entry to my home. I also wanted to tie it into my home automation system (OpenHAB). There are more pricey locks out there that would include bluetooth/wifi hub systems, but besides the price, I found a lot of them with their push keys or displays a little too gaudy or over-the-top for my liking. I liked the simple "not too showy" look of this lock from the exterior.Installation: I installed it into a refurbished door which already had some holes in it. If the holes aren't positioned well, the lock's mechanism may have too much friction for the gearing system to work reliably. So with my door I had to hold my mouth right to have it all work smoothly.Tips: I found that cutting the cam bar to size helped minimise the effect of not having perfect alignment between outside cylinder and inside latch mechanism. I also lubricated the dead-bolt mechanism and made sure it was true. People say to use Graphite powder but I used a small amount of Vaseline (petroleum jelly) which really helped. I also used a couple of extra screws to secure the inside end of the dead-bolt mechanism to minimise any play. I have found that as the batteries get low you will notice the lock operate slower, so if you can minimise friction, you will find the batteries are able to last longer. Make sure you buy batteries that can supply the required current to operate the gears. I tend to change the batteries before I start having problems and you can quickly appreciate a more zippy and shorter sounding lock/unlock.I set one of the two remotes up to be controlled by my raspberry pi (OpenHAB) system, powering the remote with 5V and switching the lock and unlock buttons with relays (to simulate a quick press). I also installed a push switch in the door frame to tell me whether the dead-bolt was latched or not. This then allowed me to update my system or log when the other remote or key was used. This was worth doing as it allows anyone with a smart phone (and access to the home automation) to unlock the door (I also unlock it with my Gear S3). Also, it means that you can let people in remotely if needed. I have set it up for Alexa Echo & Nest Mini to lock/unlock the door, setting up a rule to lock the door with a delay was also helpful. So overall, I can sympathise with some of the 1-2 star ratings although my remotes and lock work well, I can imagine that some doors might make it more difficult to have success. If you are wanting a project for your home automation system or simply would like key-less entry for you home, this can be a very cheap yet smart looking solution.

Remote Control Deadbolt
Don't waste your time unless your door and old lock is perfect. If you do not line up perfectly, even just a little tight on the bolt going intothe hole and it won't work. I had a lot of trouble with the remote somehow not working at all and had to re-set it up. It was a real cool idea but definately not worth the money or hassle. Just my opinion. Instead I bought one from Home Depot with a kepad and deadbolt latch that would spin unless you put in the code then it would let you manually turn and unlock it. I love this one and so does everyone else that seescit. You can program different codes for different people and delete codes anytime.

Easy install and you don't even have to replace your current lock!
Installation is quite easy with this unit and you don't even have to replace the locks you already have in place. Where I live I cannot replace the BEST industrial locks on the doors but I still wanted the remote feature. All I had to do was unscrew the indoor side and replace it with the mechanical unit from this. The existing screws worked all the same and I was able to complete the installation in a few minutes. At first install the range of the remote wasn't that far. I e-mailed tech support and they told me to line the back of the unit with duct tape and that should help. Well I ended up just using some masking tape and the range increased about 5-10 feet. This only seems to be an issue on Metal Doors. But overall I am very satisfied with the lock. The main reason I purchased this unit is because it can work with INSTEON Home Automation Products with the "MorningLinc" adapter. We the switches I have around the house I can choose to lock the doors. This comes in handy with the table side switch I have on my nightstand, at night I just press a button and all the doors get locked and I can sleep with that peace of mind. All in all I was very satisfied with this unit and would recommend it to anyone especially if you have INSTEON products in your house.UPDATE: I just purchased and installed another unit and again installation was just as easy. I recommend this to anyone!

Low Quality
Great idea. And convenient -- when it works. One remote fob never worked. Now (18 months after purchase) 2nd fob stopped working. Appears will have to buy whole new lock to get new fob. Looking for another brand.

So Disappointed.
Disappointed. First the product was obviously a previous return because Amazon shipped a completely opened package. The top of the plastic packaging was snipped off and included in the box. Small parts were loose in the box. I live on the second floor and just got home from the hospital due to knee surgery. I thought this door lock would be the perfect solution to having to go up and down the stairs to open the door for nurses and therapists. The remote has a short range and i still have to come down two steps and line it up perfectly in order to open the door.. Its better than nothing, but what. A disappointment.

This product works fine
Although the instructions could be made a bit clearer after I emailed the company they got back to me the next day and cleared up my issues and I was able to instal and make this lock work. It's a good product and I am very happy I purchased it.
