An exclusive tactical water-resistant/breathable softshell cap equally suited to hot/dry conditions as it is to cold and wet weather. The Hazard 4(R) Smartskin(TM) fabric is stretchy and repels water (beads up) while still allowing persperation and heat to ventilate. It also features the Hazard 4(R) exclusive retainer-lanyard which can be clipped to one's collar. It can be removed in seconds and adjusted for length. It is invaluable for the active user to make sure the cap is not blown/knocked off on the run or in open top vehicles. It also omits a top-button so there is no pain when wearing ear protection. The button is replaced by a velcro patch for placing i.r. glint tape patterns - especially useful for overwatch partners to make a quick friend-foe i.d. from above.

Best hat ever! If your noggin is bigger, it may not be the hat for you. This fits just about right on me, but just slightly smaller than I normally wear. Not enough to make a big difference with me though. Love it.

Good range cap!
I wear this on the range and the side panels are great for putting Instructor or CRSO patches on during events. The only thing I would change would be to offer color options like Khaki or Safety Orange. Being black, this cap can get hot on those real sunny summer days.

and it is very good at being waterproof
While very functional, I am almost embarrassed to wear this hat in public. Plenty of velcro for moral patches, and it is very good at being waterproof. Doesn't provide much heat though in colder climates.

Fits well low profile
I would consider myself having a larger head 7 3/8-1/2. Hat fits well. I prefer this type of material to traditional hat canvas. Also allows it to be lower profile, no stiff structure to it. Large Velcro areas on all sides, more than enough for any amount of patches.

I really like this cap...
I've been building quite the hat collection over about the last year, all of which being contractors caps. I wear a 7 3/8" hat size, which I consider to be on the larger side, and this cap fits fine. It has a slightly shallower gusset than others, but I prefer my hat not touch the tops of where my ears and scalp meet. I have the MSM CG Hat Raw, Rothco Cap, Condor Cap, and Oakley MK 2 Mod 2. The Hazard 4 Privateer Softshell is now my favorite. MSM is a close second. If MSM made a hat using the same material for the cap and bill felt they'd get the nod. I removed the tether from the hat, which is done easily without cutting it just in case I want to use it or modify it later. This is my second product from hazard 4 and I'm highly satisfied with both.

Other than that it is a great hat.
Hat is tight on my 7 3/8 head, maybe some flexible material between the panels. Other than that it is a great hat.

Awesome Hat (for small heads)
Built in Taiwan, this hat is probably the best ball cap I have come across. Solid quality. But not for my big noggin... So it is not a One-Size-Fits-All... But normal size heads will love this hat and I would highly recommend it. Plenty of real estate for velcro items.
