Bed & Bugs is the third album by Brooklyn, NY garage-punkers Obits. Bed & Bugs was recorded somewhere in Arlington, VA at an unnamed recording studio, simply and rather unhelpfully described as "upstairs." It was recorded by Nikhil Ranade, with additional mixing by Eli Janney and Geoff Sanoff. On listening to Bed & Bugs, the discerning listener may well note more than a passing similarity to such bands as Hot Snakes, Edsel, Drive Like Jehu, Girls Against Boys, Pitchfork, possibly Television or the Wipers. With the exception of those last two, Obits share members with all of those bands.

Great package
The performances and engineering are really strong. I like every track. The packaging design is stellar. Mine was orange vinyl. I ordered a copy for a friend & his vinyl was purple!

Golden
Yet another phenomenal album from this great band. No song sounds the same, the music is rich and diverse and it's totally obvious there is tons of experience behind this band. These guys should be huge. I don't think they are capable of making a crappy song. Like their other albums, I can put this one on repeat and never get tired of it. Nice work....and thanks Obits for coming to Oregon to tour this album.

Hooked On This Great Album
The Obits are the latest Sub Pop Alumni to produce a record. Created in 2006, Obits are a formation of old projects and discarded bandmembers throughoutwhat I can imagine is a very vivid New York music scene. Their sound is indie melodic garage if that makes sense. Dual guitarists help separate the soundfrom standard a standard 3 piece and the vocals by Rick Froberg (Drive Like Jehu, Hot Snakes) are clearly audible, so maybe garage isn't the proper genre.Whatever genre you want to call them, ("Garage-surf" says the Sub Pop label) know that they rock. I took a chance on the band's third album, Bed & Bugsand won big.Bed & Bugs has just about everything I want in a rock album: groovy instrumentals with psychedelic vocal bridges are abound in "Double Jeopardy,"racing guitars in "Taste The Diff," and just when I think I've got this band figured out I stumble upon a savy instrumental in "Besetchet." Alexis Fleisig'sdrumming is compact and tight, flavorful and erratic when called upon, he is the glue in the modern day "Twist & Shout" that is "I'm Closing In."I've spent a good while trying to compare Obits to other modern acts but ultimately I've given up and I realize it can often shoot an act intoan unjustified position or fan base. Obits sound like Obits, and years from now I'll tell you about bands who wished they sounded like them.I've listened to Bed & Bugs each day for the past four and I keep slowing it down and replaying it to ring out some distinct avenue of complaint but alasI honestly have none. When you're listening to music to find things you don't like you're either very sick and twisted or you've stumbled upon something truly great.I'd like to think it's the latter. Discazo
Discazo de un grupo no muy conocido por el gran publico. Vinilo impecable. Si te gusta el indie americano, debes tenerlo.
