I had no idea there could be some side effects of taking enzymes until 2 of my friends tried this product because I recommended it. At first it seems like it works well until they complained of headache/ migraines. Then I started to seriously look into it and feel my increased constipation, bloating and lack of weight loss (none for 3 weeks) MAY be due to this product. Jury is still out for me, but one of my friends decided to discontinue the product. Please be aware of this ( just google for side effect list) and pay attention. Also, since I do not swallow pills, I put this product in apple sauce and it always gave me a dullness to my taste buds ( things didn’t taste the same). But it definitely helped my super full feeling after a meal. I have purchased 4 different variations of this product from this company and the quality seems to be spot on. I did the enzyme potency test ( spinkle it on food, let sit 15 minutes and the food should show signs of breakdown). And it passed. But if this is causing me side effects, I just wasted a couple hundred dollars…super sad about that and can’t return.

This is a really good digestive enzymes supplement. Comprehensive formula that's not too strong. Some formulas that I've tried are so strong that they hurt my stomach. I've never had that problem with this formulation. I take it only occasionally when I'm going to eat a big meal or I eat something hard to digest like steak or burger. The good thing about this one is if you feel like you've eaten too much or your meal is sitting heavy on your stomach you can take this after you eat and it works wonders. It's probably best to take it within the hour or sooner after the meal but I've never had a problem. The directions say take with meal but I haven't had a problem taking it afterwards. I wouldn't wait too long though.

A friend had told me about this who is also gluten-free. I have not eaten gluten in four years, and we were headed to Paris. I wanted to taste a croissant, and this product gave me that opportunity.

I really like Digest Basic! It's an Essential Enzyme Formula with easy to swallow capsules. I have terrible stomach problems! This is the only Formula I can take after every meal or 3 times a day.
